Rick Ross & Fabolous).” The OverDose will focus on Dose’s ability to excel in not only making catchy hooks, but displaying a lyrical versatility not seen in the South since T.I.’s prime.

I Am Music Tour

I Am Music Tour  features T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Keyshia Cole, Gym Class Heroes and Keri Hilson.

The scorching success of Wayne’s latest album, Tha Carter III and its eight Grammy nominations has recast Lil Wayne as a burgeoning mainstream pop star, a role he eagerly assumed Tuesday night, as his “I Am Music” tour stopped at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. Literally exploding onto the stage through a trapdoor, Wayne raced through a muscular, hyperactive 80-minute performance, touching on all phases of his career but leaning most heavily on the critically acclaimed Tha Carter III. Backed by a live band and a DJ, Weezy transformed himself into a hurricane of dreadlocks, often hunched over and flinging the knotty, thumping rhymes of Mr. Carter or A Milli against the floor like razor blades. While a handful of guest stars wandered on and off the stage throughout the night, the evening belonged to its diminutive star.

Also enjoying the show: Nivea, Playaz Circle, Baby, Slim, Fairley M. (Interscope Records)

The Project

projectThe Project is an upcoming film (slated for release in 2009) which co-stars Juelz Santana. It also features the DipSkate Team.

Justin Stager and Dana Murphy, white, young, and naive, move to Brooklyn to make a documentary about inner city life. The film takes a media-immersion approach: Dana follows inner city youths, Justin films NYPD officers on patrol, and John Healy, a hired cinematographer, documents the filmmakers.

The focus of Dana’s story is Thomas Coventry, a 15-year-old black youth trying to navigate his way through his strained family and social life. Thomas is poised to move up from the hardships of ghetto life, but his volatile friend, Nate, who is hell bent on stealing the spotlight, is keeping Thomas down.

Surrounded by violence and drugs, nothing comes easy to Thomas in the dangerous environment he calls home. On the flipside, Justin documents the everyday lives of NYPD officers Dan Masterson and his partner Alex Mora. Masterson is a seemingly good cop who puts his life on the line everyday.

However, it slowly becomes evident that views towards certain races get in the way of his duties. After performing a heroic act, Masterson granted some time off. He uses this time to uncover a plot, the origins of which, unmask the motives behind Masterson’s racist behavior.

As the filming progresses, violence and emotions get into the way of Justin and Dana’s objectivity. As the filmmakers grow apart their stories merge together, forcing them to become active participants in the underground world they hoped to observe through the lens. What was once considered an ambitious idea soon spirals out of control, with irreversible results.

iPod Shuffle … Pt1

I get emails from people who actually want to know what music gets play in my iPod. I’m gonna break down a few recent rappers that has been on heavy rotation in my iPod…

B.O.B – Do I really need to go into an explanation for him. This ATL native gives fans hope that great music is still alive from new comers. He was the only one I was checking for on the XXL freshman cover.

Max B – Max is on his way to becoming the East Coast Nate Dog/ New Big L..His rap style is something like no other..

Plies – Yeah I said it! Plies makes music for two types of people. 1. the woman who want street/provider/romantic type of man. 2. Country boys in the trap. He sold more than Nas, LL, and a whole list of other rappers in 08! swallow that truth pill and let plies live. He has a formula that works. Drug references, Music for woman, family Struggle.

Shwayze – Like the hiphop/ alternative version of Sublime.

Drake – Ransom. the End. ONLY Actor who can ACTUALLY have a great rap career.

Honorable Mention:  Mack Maine, Re-Up Gang, Saigon, Lil boosie

Max B: MTV Mixtape Monday

maxIf you’ve been paying attention, you know all three of these guys. Dame Grease has made some legendary tracks for a slew of guys, including DMX and the Ruff Ryders, and some recent bangers, like DJ Drama and company’s “Taking Pictures.” The Mixtape Monday chain gang has known Frenchie since he was going by Young French (thanks for the introduction to Papoose all those years ago). He’s had a recurring role in these parts with his “Cocaine City” DVD series. No telling what gems you’ll find there, like Beyoncé mimicking Jay-Z. And Max B? His intoxicated, melodic flow (singing or rapping) has a lot of the fans and media types saying he has the talent to be a star.

”That would have to be on Jim,” Yayo said of a possible buyout. “I would love for the opportunity [to sign Max]. I would love to be a businessman just like Fif. I learned so much. So learning the business from Fif, me and Jim can come to the table. If he wanted to let him go, I would want to work something out.”  – Tony Yayo
