Brett Favre: The '09 Pookie (From New Jack)
What crack was to Pookie, football is to Brett Favre. At this point, I’m not even convinced he’s doing this for money, rather he has a true love for the game. Meanwhile, I try to convince Karen that being a fan of the Eagles and Giants is not possible and completely wrong in the world of football-dom. Back to Favre, however, the future Hall-of-Famer signed a 2 year-$25 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings guaranteeing him between $10M-$12M this season. Not a hard decision when it’s presented like that.
“I felt I did everything I possibly could do to get where I need to be,” Favre said at his introductory news conference Tuesday. “You’re 39, your arm may not feel like it did at 21. But the pieces are in place that you don’t have to do that much and I agree with that.
“If they were willing to take that chance, I was, too.”
Favre finally decided that he didn’t want to live with regrets.
“I don’t know how I’ll feel a year from now, five years from now, but I didn’t want to say what if,” he said.
On October 5, Monday Night Football, Favre’s new team squares off with Favre’s old team, the Green Bay Packers, in a game which will be one of the year’s most anticipated.
Somewhere, Mike Vick is just happy the attention is off him for the moment.

Justin, I completely understand Karen’s affinity for the Eagles and the Giants because I am a fan of both as well (w/ the slight edge going to Philly). Born and raised in BK, I’ll always have love for Big Blue, but I started liking Philly when Cunningham was at the helm and their consistency with the black QB’s has kept my loyalty (not to mention they’re just a consistent team). Maybe this will change down the road, but for now…Giants/Eagles games will remain a tossup for me and will never disappoint. Plus, the addition of Vick just made this season get all the more interesting. Just glad to know I’m not the only one out there who thinks it’s completely rational to be a fan of two division rivals LOL!

Lol, it’s all good Elaine. I’m a Cowboys fan so I hate both equally. I will continue to work with the both of you in picking one team. In the meantime, enjoy the upcoming season!!
