Atlanta-based artist Dose is set to release his debut mixtape, The OverDose, to follow-up on the success of his bubbling single, “Where They Do That At (remix, feat. Rick Ross & Fabolous).” The OverDose will focus on Dose’s ability to excel in not only making catchy hooks, but displaying a lyrical versatility not seen in the South since T.I.’s prime.

 bump-j-732026

Terrence Boykin known as Bump J, has been given a 10 year prison sentence in relation to a 2007 bank roberry

From FSD: However, as bad as this news sounds, he received the minimum sentence for both charges, 7 years for the gun and 37 months for the bank robbery.By law, these two terms have to be served consecutively, but he does gets credit for the time he’s served and will finish out 85% of his sentence.  At the end of his sentence he’ll be eligible for placement in a halfway house.

Lloyd Feat. Pusha T "Pusha"

Still working on his first album post-The Inc., Lloyd, or Young Goldie as he refers to himself on Twitter now, hooks up with Pusha produced by the Runners. Seeing as how all of Lloyd’s album have been enjoyable (Street Love being the best),  I’m expecting nothing less this time around.

Since we’re on the topic of The Clipse, however, just know the album is CRAZY and the collabs…well, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.

Chris Brown feat. Lil Wayne & Swizz Beatz – "I Can Transform Ya"

I said from the moment the whole fiasco with Rihanna broke back in February, all Chris Brown needs to do is lay low for a minute and come back with a hit single. If he did that, then his career would be just fine. He laid low for a minute, but it remains to be seen if this is the hit I was referring to. I say that because I’ve yet to hear it.

Well, for what it’s worth, he nabbed two of the biggest hitmakers in the industry (Wayne & Swizzy), so that’s half the battle right there. If you have some free time or just want to explore a portion of the internet you’ve never visited before, check out Chris Breezy’s official site.

Thank ILL for the link.

Jae Millz – "The Virgo: He Nasty" Mixtape

Fresh off the release of “Zone Out Season 2“,Young Money’s Harlem import, Jae Millz, keeps his own movement moving with the release of this newest mixtape, “The Virgo: He Nasty.” Personally, I think Millz on Young Money is one of the more underrated signings in Hip-Hop. Yeah, disagree if you want, but Millz has talent and I’m interested to see how he and the rest of the YM roster pan out on this new compilation album.

Shout out to Millz and the entire YM entourage.

3. Sex Tape (feat. So UniQ)

Higher Learning: Wyclef Going To College

wyclef_jean

Grammy winner Wyclef Jean is going to college to further his education.

I am enrolling in Berklee College in Boston to get my bachelor’s degree in music! That’s how important education is to me. I plan to work with Rev. Al Sharpton because that’s how important stressing the importance of education to children is to me,” the musician announced during the Congressional Black Caucus Phoenix Awards Dinner in Washington, DC on Saturday.

The former member of the hip-hop collective The Fugees was presented the George Collins Award for Community Service for his work as a Goodwill Ambassador to Haiti.

I’m also not running for president of Haiti,” Jean emphasized during his speech, before adding: “Though I wish my uncle would.”

Nas Writes Open Letter to Derrion Albert

Derrion Albert a young Chicago resident was beaten to death during what police are calling a “melee” between Fenger High School students and local gang members. This tragic situation moved Nas to write the following letter which was posted on GlobalGrind today:

Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong wars! Killing each other is definitely played out. Being hurt from the lost of a love one was never cool.

Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong war! I know that feeling , that frustration with life and needing to take it out on someone, any one. But….

Common & Friends/Kanye Backstage

HipHollywood was backstage for Common’s Charity Fundraiser that featured some of Hip Hops’ biggest names, including Kanye West.  For Kanye, it was his first show since the MTV Awards, so check out the audience reaction. Nas, Mos Def, Ludacris, Queen Latifah, Amber Rose (with her shocking new look), and Serena Williams, were just some of the big names we caught up with, both backstage and on the stage.
