50 Cent on Possible Low Sales Numbers

A lot has changed since 50 scanned over 11 million copies his debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. No longer the premiere name in Hip-Hop, Fif still manages to draw a heavy a mount of media attention anytime an album of his is in the news. Whether it be through his own merit or through beefs he always seems to find himself involved in, the G-Unit honcho has always remained opinionated.
At the current moment, sales for his fourth studio album (six if your include Guess Who’s Back and Power of the Dollar), Before I Self Destruct, are rumored to fall in between 150K to 160K. Considerably low numbers for a man who, until this point lowest first week numbers had been 691,000, 50 attributes the numbers to the premature leak he suffered a month before the intended release date.
“It’s obvious, the project just came out a month earlier than what was actually anticipated.â€
“The actual project is arguably my best work, to have the general public respond the way they’ve responded to it,†50 continued. “I haven’t heard anything negative about my choices artistically, so if I was in the space where I absolutely needed finances from the actual sales of the record, it might mean something, but if it offers the material that I can go out and perform and make everyone enjoy themselves as much as I enjoyed myself making it, Ill be happy with it.â€
Moving forward, 50′s next single will be the laid-back “Do You Think About Me” featuring former fling, Vivica Fox.
