Robin Thicke Listening Session

CIMG1639_JPG

Few days ago Hennessy Black presented the Robin Thicke listening session for his new album “Sex Therapy’ being released December 15th. With each passing day, the anticipation to Thicke’s new LP continues to grow. As with every other release nowadays, leaked tracks have allowed eager fans to give themselves an unofficial preview of the album. The recently leaked collaboration with Jay-Z, “Meiple’”, has been making its round on the internet and likely will be later used as a single. It was Hov, however, who gave Rob a recommendation for his new single, “Shakin’ It For Daddy.”

“It was Jay’s idea,” Thicke said about how Nicki Minaj came to be on “Shakin’ It 4 Daddy.”

“We were in the studio, and I played him the whole album. He was like, ‘You should get Nicki Minaj on that. She’s got that voice. She’s got that swag.’ So I leaned over and was like, ‘Somebody get Nicki Minaj on the phone! Jay-Z said so!’ Next thing you know, we called Nicki. She was excited. But once we told her it was Jay-Z’s idea to get her on the track, she started screaming on the phone. She was all excited. She’s a super, super talent. I can’t wait to do a video with Nicki. There’s a power in her. It’s not just that she’s sexy and that’s the only way she can get you to like her. She’s got charm — not just sex. Some women may use sex to get what they want; others have charm. She’s got charm.”

With Jay on the old-school feeling track and Minaj on the leading single, it is Thicke’s sensual anthem, “Sex Therapy”, which has been receiving the most recognition. The record showcases the singer over slow, melodic beat harmonizing about all things sexual. It’s really one of those tracks you have to hear for yourself. I wouldn’t do it justice attempting to describe the feel of the record.

As an additional reminder, be on the look for guest appearances by Snoop, The Game and KiD CuDi as well on the LP.
