Stevie Boi Talks SB Shades

stevie boi copy

A skillfully articulate fashion trendsetter, Stevie Boi  is a true artist and the world is his canvas. With a unique flare for style and the ability to turn ordinary shades into one of a kind masterpiece, Stevie Boi is quickly becoming one of the most sought after tastemaker in the industry.  He is currently a stylist for hip hop recording artists such as Angel Lola Luv, also known as Lola Monroe, a former video model turned rapper and Young B. Recently, I sat down for a private chat with Stevie Boi and was given a glimpse into the mind and life of a true entrepreneur. We discussed everything from how his shade line began as well as his current and upcoming projects.

To find out what Stevie Boi exclusively told me check out more after the jump…

 SBShades

Hi Stevie, I am a huge fan of your work. I had a few questions about your work and how you started. What inspired you to become a designer as well as a celebrity stylist?

Well I was originally making shades for myself which were disposable. I got an offer for the shades to be in Obvious Magazine and agreed to it. The next thing I knew it was on the cover of the magazine with Eva Marcille and it kind of gave me my start and let me to make more.

Some reports say you grew up in DC, a trend capital, are there times in which you look towards your hometown for inspiration or motivation?

Actually I was born in Georgia, but my parents were in the army so I traveled a lot. I lived in London, Germany, Paris, Italy I basically grew up overseas and spent most of my life there.

While you refer to your work as being “supernatural innovation with electric remixes of alter personas” many are wary of wearing such audaciously innovative art work. What would you say to them?

{Chuckles} If you’re afraid of trying something new, try it in your personal space behind closed doors before you go out in public. I mean I grew up as an artistic person surrounded around art and things like that I can’t really say what another should do.  Just try it in your own home if you like it then if not it’s not for you.

In 2007, your Toxic line was launched and over time you garnered strong following as well clients, what led to the development of this project?

Seven, well eight months ago I started the business and sent out my info to blogs and magazines and I began to gain notoriety and here I am now.

With celebrities such as Megan Good, Dawn Richards, and Columbus Short wearing your designs, is there anyone else you would like to see wearing a Stevie Boy Original?

Well there are a number of people but {short pause} the one person I would love to see wearing my shades would have to be Grace Jones.

That would be dope. She is amazing. Now what should we expect from you, Stevie Boi, this New Year?

A lot of press {laughing}.  I actually will be doing a lot of things this year. One of them being in New York’s Fashion Week. I am excited about. My biggest press is so big I can’t wait and it’s in February. It’s for a magazine that I am ecstatic to have my shades featured in I mean its BIG.  And also this month both Megan Good and Columbus Short will be on dual cover of Praise Magazine wearing my shades.

We closed our Q and A I was left with the impression that Stevie Boi will change the game for the better and in a dramatic way. Stevie Boi shades can be found at www.StevieBoi.com and they range from $15 to $200. For email and press inquires about Stevie Boi please email Info@stevieboi.com.

Stevie boy is a scam artist. I ordered eye glasses from his website and I never got them. I’ve tried to contact him on several occasions with NO reply. Do NOT order from his website.
