When thinking about the unfortunate connection that is hip hop and prison, Tupac likely ranks as the poster child (while some may argue Shyne). No artist was more vocal about the concept of prison or while actually behind bars than the musical icon. Fast forward to the current day and one of the biggest entertainment names in the solar system faces the same ‘music’ Shakur did some 15 years ago.

From time to time, I pondered if and when any producer would stumble upon this sample and incorporate it into a song. The quote I’m referencing to was from the aforementioned Tupac and was found on his “Thug Angel” DVD. Pac spoke his mind on how, regardless of the levels of fame and fortune he achieved, he would always “keep it real.” Reflecting those sentiments, Weezy uses this aggressive sample and slow, hard hitting instrumental to vent his own frustrations.

Yep, this is a KarenCivil.com exclusive, more to come.
