Honey Magazine's Females Freakin The Industry

Females in the entertainment industry today are often judged by their achievements and losses. It is rare to find one who has not succumbed to the flashing lights and become a distant memory. However once in a while a group of elite women are able to break away from the fold of failure and become women to be honored. Phenomenal women as their called who have paved a path to success are some to be admired. KarenCivil.com own head honcho Karen Civil joins this group of intellectual babes as they are honored by Honey Magazine as being the Females Freakin The Industry.

To check out these bodacious women take a peak after the jump…

Honored for her rise from Hot 97 “The Apprentice” contestant, to a respected business woman Karen has achieved what most women and some men could only dream of. Whether it was working alongside Hot 97′s DJ extraordinaire Funk Master Flex or handling all online branding and marketing for The Diplomats, she mastered all tasks given to her. In the end with such experience, Karen ultimately launched her own company called Civil Service Marketing and the rest is history.

To young women seeking advice on their career choices she not so eloquently states in her Civil way:

“When you own ideas no one else has and you know you gave 150%, there’s no denying you. You have to have this confidence, like me I’m always like: ‘Karen doesn’t care, Karen didn’t ask you.’ When I first started no one took me seriously, but you have to make them take you seriously. Step your interview game up. Step your timing up. And even after all that you’ll still have people who won’t acknowledge you. So if someone wants to continue being small-minded and brush you off, you can’t let it get to you. Just think of it as ‘You’re an asshole who’s stuck in your little ways, and guess what? I’m still going to have that record before you…’”

Another celebrated woman knocking industry heads like Sugar Ray Leonard is rapptress Nicki Minaj. Young Money’s leading lady is a lyrical beauty has who has demolished the nay sayers with her spunky attitude and cheeky grin. Since her debut on Lil Wayne’s Da Drought 3, she has transformed from a rap blossom into a rap beast leaving many anxious by her power and in awe of her talent.

Coining the phrase “Barbie” Nicki offers no apologies for being herself and states:

“The problem with female rappers is they allow themselves to be boxed in. Don’t allow the industry to box you in. Make your own terms. A lot of record companies were like, ‘Why is she rapping and singing? Is she the bad girl or is she the good girl?’ I do what I want to do and that’s the only way I feel free. This is about a new culture of girls being smart, but being sexy. Stay true to yourself no matter how hard it is. Whatever you do, you don’t need a guy to do it for you. You don’t need someone thinking for you. [And] definitely stay in college. I’m the biggest supporter of [that]. It’s all about girl power in 2010. We are taking over the world. I promise.”

These women are killing the game and living their life. To read more on them and the 9 other Females Freakin The Industry check out  Honey Magazine.com
