What is most likely to strike you upon meeting JUSTICE League/Asylum recording artist Laws – other than the fact that he doesn’t look like the average rapper – is a clear confidence and sense of self. Those aren’t necessarily common qualities among his peers. Continue Reading

One thing Eminem’s life has never been is stable. From his tumultuous childhood, to his rise to fame and controversy, to the murder of his best friend and fellow D-12 member Proof, the life of Marshall Mathers has never been one which was easy to decipher. Read More

Killer Mike feat. Ludacris & Game – "Still My N*gga"

killer-mike

A few years back, more like five or six, a good friend told me Killer Mike was the down south version of Nas. Back then, I knew who Mike was, but had never really invested in his music. Thankfully, I smartened up. While I’m not sure if I can compare anyone to Nas, Mike is one of the most potent lyricists in the game today. His music has purpose and he is never afraid to speak his mind, both on and off the mic. He just has that raw intensity in his music which let’s you know every time he breaths on the mic, it’d be best to pay attention. Bottom line, the guy is still underrated to this day, but never under-appreciated in my circle of MC’s.

On “Still My Nigga,” Mike grabs fellow ATLien and feature guest-extraordinaire, Ludacris, and West Coast wingman, Game. According to the homie Mo’ G:

Mike let me hear this song sometime last year. But it only had him and Luda on it…he also had plans on getting another, well-known singer on the hook. So to see this joint leak out unfinished, is kinda bittersweet. Hell, Mike himself didn’t even know this joint leaked out. I mean, am I the only one who thinks this SOUNDS unfinished. But yeah, for all of ya’ll saying that the song would be better off without Game on it…you’re onto something, because he wasn’t supposed to be on it either yet or at all.

So there you have it. Hopefully, Game isn’t on the final version. Not because I don’t like dude, but because his verse didn’t gel with with the other two. Either that or record a new verse. Or call up Bun B. He’d kill a beat like this.
