50’s Newest Experiment
I saw this yesterday, but never really got around to speaking on it. Truthfully, I’ve been a 50 fan for over eight years now. So I, like others, have seen Curtis go from underground legend to pop culture mainstay. I’m happy for the dude, even though as his success increased, the quality of his music diminished. Hell, if I want to listen to “old 50,” that’s what I’ve got an external hard-drive for. But when eskay posted this yesterday, even I had to think “what the fuck??”
Fif has never really been an emotional person, so if he’s at a crossroads in his career, he’s not going to openly admit it. Long gone are the days of selling 6-7 million copies per album, which means he figures he can just try whatever. And he very well can, but I’m not sure how successful a venture into techno will be for Boo Boo. I know Jay tried it a few months ago and the end result was, with all due respect, horrible. I’m not saying techno and hip-hop can’t mesh, I’m just saying they haven’t yet. Mark my words, if those records are undeniably good records, I’ll offer a public apology right here.
Best of luck though for real, Curtis. I think.

#CmonSon Fif needs to just retire from the game. The only ppl that are capable of making comebacks are those who have always been lyrically sound, i.e. Jay. I admittedly was on the 50 bandwagon for 2 albums, but since then he’s basically done exactly what his last album was called. Self Destruct.
Oh, and that Jay track was NOT bad, not great but still good. The beat rocked, just not techno style rocking. I’d like to see someone other than Kanye do a better job than that.
