Nas Goes To Africa

Everybody has problems. Marital problems. Financial problems. Health problems. Business problems. And with those problems, it is easy to forget the plights of others. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but hearing others’ stories always help put life in perspective.

Imagine living in a country that was at civil war for nearly 15 years and 250,000 of your neighbors would go on to lose their lives. Imagine losing a limb, let’s say a leg. You live through all that to only have your fellow countrymen and women ridicule you for your handicap. Sleep in dirt. Go days without eating and even contemplate death as a better option than living. That’s real life for Richard and Jospeh from Liberia.

Narrated by Nas, the story of Liberia’s amputee soccer team and how they united a country is explained in full on Tuesday, May 4, on ESPN‘s “E:60.” The network has been producing nothing but quality documentaries for the past year, so expect this to be no different.

Jay Electronica Is Halfway Decent

This is my first post ever focusing on Jay Electronica. I’m surprised it took this long. But you know what? The guy isn’t half bad at this rapping thing.

I’ve heard about J.E. for a few years now, and for the most part, they were all good great things. The first time Jay Elec’s music blarred out my speakers was probably a year and a half ago. It was good, but nothing that would force me to become an instant fan. He would also garner a listen regardless because of his affiliation with Just Blaze. But I wasn’t sold. Then again, I wasn’t listening either. (Keep reading…)

Lil Boosie – Bottom To The Top Video

This is one of the three videos (Mind of A Maniac, Brothers Keeper) we shot back in September 2009 during a weekend trip to Baton Rouge. After 4 hours of shooting we had to cut it short because of a meeting Boosie had with his lawyers and never got a chance to finish filming. When his best friend Bleek passed away April 1, 2010 we were inspired to revisit this footage because of his heavy presence in the video and come up with something in his memory. Per Boosie’s request, we are releasing this unofficial video.

West Africa Goes Crazy For Akon

It’s one thing to get love in America. It’s totally different to receive love overseas. Simply put, this is crazy. This near two minute clip shows pandemonium as an excited crowd, to put it lightly, attempts to get near Akon while in Freetown, West Africa.

The award winning singer was on his Sierra Leone. Credit to Akon’s security guard, Tommy Tom, for maintaining composure and catching it all on film amongst all the chaos.

Chanel: "Turning Fantasy Into Reality"

Rob Dyrdek’s “Fantasy Factory” has proven to be a seamless transition from its highly popular predecessor, “Rob & Big.” Preparing for the premiere of its third season, one of the better aspects of the show has been its ability to help mold careers of Chris “Drama Beats” Pfaff and Chanel West Coast. After recently catching up with Chanel, the “rapping receptionist” spoke on her drive to become a respected MC in a genre and culture that may not be so accepting, how the murders of two close friends continue to inspire her to record music, a 20 minute freestyle with Travis Barker no one will ever see, her official mixtape and other things. Pill – "Ok Denn"

And the quality music continues to pour in. Next up: Pink City’s own, Pill. The Grade A Muzik produced “Ok Denn” is the next leak as hype for his Gangsta Grillz, 1140: The Overdose, nears completion and eventual release. Look for the video to appear on MySpace tomorrow morning, directed by Hood Affairs.

For the record, it’d still be nice if he and Freddie Gibbs could do a project together. It probably won’t happen, but we can always hope.
