Catalog Catch Up: Big K.R.I.T. – "Exhibit K"
Technically, this isn’t a “catch up” because it’s only been out for a few days. I still believe it deserves its own post for two reasons, however:
1) Big K.R.I.T. is nice. Not simply “fly by night nice,” but like “the real deal nice.” If you haven’t downloaded K.R.I.T. Wuz Here yet, stop cheating yourself and do so.
2) This may be the third “Exhibit C” remake I’ve listened to out of the hundreds which have surfaced.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, K.R.I.T. has risen from relative unknown from the crooked letter state (Mississippi) to one of the most talked about “new” rhyme slayers in the game. The guy actually talks about some real topics, too. Emersing yourself in his music, you’ll see his constant battles with everything from family issues to his own spirituality. The stuff most people deal with on a daily basis.
All the hype and notoriety surrounding the guy eventually caught Def Jam’s eye. I’m always for people making moves and signing deals because that’s what you ultimately get in the business for. I just hope the house Russell helped build doesn’t derail what homie has going for him now. Just give him a bigger platform to distribute his music and allow him to take care of the creation process. We’ll see how that pans out as this is only the next installment of artistic individuality vs. corporate conformism.
Bottom line, dude can spit with the best of ‘em and count me in the on the bandwagon. If you already knew about K.R.I.T. before this track, add it to the archives. If not, hopefully this inspires you to check out more material from ol’ boy.
