Lil Wayne feat. Gucci Mane – "Steady Mobbin'" Video

It was about this time last summer when “Steady Mobbin’” first dropped. One of those tracks most Lil Wayne purists love to hear – no gimmicks, just straight rapid fire type lyrics. Sort of like how “A Milli” turned out. Then you take one of the hottest rappers in the game – Gucci Mane – and have him spit one of his better verses, the entire song just turned out probably as good as you could expect it to.

I was even surprised it turned into the club record that it did. Nowadays, videos aren’t ‘required’ for a song to catch, so I guess in a sense I shouldn’t have been. Leave it to Wayne’s personal videographer, DJ Scoob Doo, to come through with a visual, however. For weeks, he’s been raving on Twitter about how epic “Steady Mobbin’” would be and this morning he set off his own fireworks by releasing the video to MTV Jams. Obviously, this was one of the videos Weezy shot before checking himself into Rikers. Actually, it was shot two hours before he turned himself in. It’s basically a tour of Weezy’s Miami crib. And him ashing a blunt in his Grammy. Imagine “MTV Cribs” or “House Hunters” in a rap video. Gucci shot his part once he was released from jail.

Right now, I’ve lost count as to how many videos Wayne, rather his people, have released since his going away. I do know he did shoot one for Eminem’s “No Love.” So, you still have that to look forward to. And just in case you’re marking the days off your calendar, t-minus 122 days until Wayne is off his “three hots and a cot” lifestyle.

Now go enjoy your 4th.
