Snoop Dogg Receives 2010 "Do Something!" Award

As a veteran in the rap game, Snoop Dogg has earned countless awards and recognition for his music, movie roles, and even legal issues. This time, he’s been honored for something he holds close to his heart.
Last month, VH1 and DoSomething.org teamed up to produce the first Do Something Awards, for young people and celebrities who are making active, positive changes in their communities and neighborhoods. This year’s “Do Something: For The Kids” award was presented to Calvin Broadus for his work with the Snoop Youth Football League, the charity organization he founded for inner-city youth. He accepted the award with his wife, a marching band, and several players in tow, and humbly admitted to being honored to be in the same room  with so many people doing great things.
The SFYL is in it’s 6th season, serves over 3,500 players in the state of California, and will expand to Chicago this year through the city’s Housing Authority. For more information on how you can get involved, visit the SFYL website.
Congratulations to Snoop on a job well done.

I think it is much deserved. to be such a well-known public figure and still take the time to be actively involved in the lives of so many little kids is admirable. Congrats snoop!
