Wiz Khalifa Voted 'Hottest Breakthrough MC Of 2010'
I’m not a smoker but I’m a Wiz Khalifa fan. Is that an oxymoron? Regardless, Kush and Orange Juice is still in rotation (no pun intended) on my iPod, and I’ve watched his fan base grow exponentially in the months following its release. All that being said, I didn’t really see this one coming.
The Pittsburgh native surprised many experts after pulling out a landslide victory in MTV’s “Hottest Breakthrough MC Of 2010″ competition over the weekend. A project conceptualized by the MTV News staff in late June spawned a list of 20 MC’s that was presented to fans worldwide;  offering an opportunity to choose who they felt was the best of the best. The initial round of votes produced a top 5, which included Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Diggy Simmons, Wiz, and interestingly enough, Travis Porter.
On Sunday, the captain of the Taylor Gang was crowned the victor. He received nearly double the votes that Nicki, who came in second, picked up. Check out the full list of finalists and voting totals below.
“Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010″ Poll Results:
1. Wiz Khalifa: 66,054 votes

Wiz should not have even been in that category. He’s had two albums out already and eight mix tapes. So naturally he’s got a bigger fan base than those other true up and coming artists. MTV said they only disqualified people who had major label releases, but independent releases are common in hip hop. An indy release in hip hop is just like a major label release. They should have excluded all people who had album releases, period. And speaking of J. Cole I feel sorry for him. He won the Who Got Next award and ain’t none of the bloggers writting about that. Everybody is talking about this fan award Wiz won.

i feel u jax, but he hasn’t blown up! i never heard of wiz til he hooked up with spitta. then my boy told me about prince of the city so i found out he been out a while, but thats alot of people on the list. they gottado a slow burn til they breakout. Shiit curren$y still ain’t BLOW!! and he’s had 11 mixtapes, 2 indys, 2 major record companies, a major video with Wayne, and now a major album, but he still gettin overlooked, sadly, they didn’t push his album and they undershipped. Wiz and Spitta should form a group with Big K.R.I.T. and take over!!!!
