Drake's Star Studded Homecoming

Speaking of Drake, at least for one night, Toronto was the epicenter of the Hip-Hop universe. Drake’s T-Dot homecoming yesterday was dubbed as the OVOFest – a concert that was weeks in the making and took only a few hours to become legendary. For a man who has been around the world and back since his rise to superstardom last year, it seems as if this show meant the most to him out of any performance. Back in front of his home crowd, the loyal fans were treated to several acts including Francis and The Lights, P. Reign, Bun B and Young Jeezy. And this was all before Drake was even spotted on stage.

Given close to two hours of stage time, the OVO frontman made sure he didn’t disappoint with more special guests than people in attendance could count. Judging from Niko’s tweet before hand, I sarcastically thought he was going to bring Barack out, thus changing the scope of music, entertainment and politics forever. Barack didn’t happen, but everyone else did.

- Rick Ross ruined his surprise ambience by tweeting where he was prior to the concert. It didn’t matter, however. Kardinal Offishall was brought out too. You have to show hometown love if you’re performing in your hometown.

- Fabolous was brought out for the “Throw It In The Bag (remix)” – still one of the best of its kind in recent memory.

- Jeezy comes back out and performs “Unforgettable.” That’s still a personal favorite of 2010 in my book. Apparently Jeezy is real big in Toronto as he receives one of the loudest ovations of the night.

- Who’s next? Billboard bully, Eminem, comes out to perform “Forever” with Drake and the Molson Ampitheater proceeds to completely loses its mind. How do I know this, you ask? Because Karla is my homie.

- Lastly, and it wasn’t that much of a surprise in my opinion, but great nonetheless, Jay-Z gets his passport cleared just in time to join the hometown hero (Big K.R.I.T., what up?) on stage.

By this time, I’m guessing everyone in the building can’t take anymore surprises and all it would have taken to make everyone pass out is Weezy on the jumbo screen granting his well wishes. Now that would have been epic. Either way, last night appeared to be another victory for #TeamOVO as they continue to ride out what has already been a crazy summer. Enough of my talking though, check out some of these videos courtesy of the man who is keeping us light skin dudes relevant (aside from Drake), YN.
