They locked the CEO up/Now they think I’m broke, huh?/Drizzy already told you niggas it’s far from over

About a month away from the release of his White Boyz mixtape with Birdman, Mack Maine teams up with Gorilla Zoe for the next leak from the project. Appropriately titled, the name of the record is “Young Mulah Baby” with a familiar voice on the sample. KE on the beat. Zoe is still using that sing-songy rap flow. Mack Maine’s back account is just fine, in case you were wondering.

That’s about all the preview you need.

Yelawolf Covers FADER

2010 has been good to Catfish Billy. On the first day of the year, he dropped Trunk Muzik along with DJ Burn One. And as we prepare to head into the tenth month of the year, it is still one of the better projects (album or mixtape) to drop this year. Touring alongside part-time renaissance man/full-time weed smoker Wiz Khalifa has exposed the guy to an entire new legion of fans.

The flow is one of a kind and from meeting the guy once, he’s one of the most humble people in the game. With all those compliments, it’s great to see Yela land on the cover of FADER alongside East London group Trash Talk for the 70th issue.

To both of these artists, place has been an important theme in their careers, Alabama especially figuring into the career of catfish rapper Yelawolf, an undeniable force whose quick diction and mudflap haircut are going to worm their way into the hearts of many, many different types of people. As you may know, rap is the new pop (by new, we mean the last 20 years minimum), and that’s basically the time folks like Yelawolf have grown up, this self-proclaimed redneck running through his tracks with a predilection for gross glamor, Chevys and Xanax. We didn’t fish him up from the bottom of the swamp, he came up for air himself, but he knows where he’s from. That’s why we went there.

Don’t let the carefree attitude on Twitter fool you, Pill still has a lot on his chest. The beat is ominous and it proves to be a perfect back drop for Pill to drop stories of the all mighty paper chase.

The Beastie Boys & LL Cool J Nominated For Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

As an artist, one of the biggest honors you can receive is being inducted into a Hall Of Fame. Something about being enshrined just makes a career look 10x greater.  The longevity and hard work has paid off for hip-hop legends LL Cool J and The Beastie Boys with the announcement that they had been nominated (a second time) for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Both of these Def Jam icons’ first year of eligibility was last year, when Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five were inducted. Inductee’s for 2011 will be announced in December, and the awards will take place in March.

President Obama Talks FOX News, Lil Wayne/Nas, Oil Spill & More

It looks like I will have to pick up the new issue of Rolling Stone along with the Jay-Z/Warren Buffett Forbes magazine. In the interview with legendary journalist Jann S. Wenner, President Obama spoke on a laundry list of topics.

On FOX News – [Laughs] Look, as president, I swore to uphold the Constitution, and part of that Constitution is a free press. We’ve got a tradition in this country of a press that oftentimes is opinionated. The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history. Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints. I think Fox is part of that tradition — it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view. It’s a point of view that I disagree with. It’s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world. But as an economic enterprise, it’s been wildly successful. And I suspect that if you ask Mr. Murdoch what his number-one concern is, it’s that Fox is very successful.

On What’s In His Taste In Music Is Like These DaysThanks to Reggie [Love, the president's personal aide], my rap palate has greatly improved. Jay-Z used to be sort of what predominated, but now I’ve got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff, but I would not claim to be an expert. Malia and Sasha are now getting old enough to where they start hipping me to things. Music is still a great source of joy and occasional solace in the midst of what can be some difficult days. (Keep reading…)
