Cincinnati Bengals Player Chris Henry Gives Life Via Organ Donation

Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver  Chris Henry died last December after falling from a moving vehicle driven by his fiance in Charlotte, N.C. Although he wasn’t a registered organ donor, his mom, Carolyn Henry Glaspy, made the decision to donate his organs, despite what his fiance wanted.

Recipients included James Benton (liver), Donna Arnold (pancreas and kidney), Thomas Elliot (lungs) and Brian Polk (kidney). CBS brought the four together earlier this month to meet Henry’s mom. “For him to live on,” she said of her son. “I mean, he brought me new family. I don’t know them, but it’s a new family.”

CBS aired a small piece of the story last Thursday and back in the studio after the segment concluded, host James Brown was crying and Dan Marino, Bill Cowher and Shannon Sharpe were left speechless as they teared up. The entire piece will air Sunday on 60 minutes.

Kardashian MasterCard Gets Axed

The Kardashian family has axed the “Kardashian Kard” – a prepaid debit card from MasterCard – after reports surfaced that its terms may include hidden, illegal fees. They sent a “Notice of Termination” today, saying they no longer wanted the “negative spotlight” caused by the Attorney General of Connecticut investigating the card.

The Kardashian Kard costs $9.95 plus 12 monthly fees of $7.95. It also costs $1.50 every time you add money.

A Kardashian
lawyers write, “The Kardashians have worked extremely long and hard to create a positive public persona that appeals to everyone, particularly young adults” and the investigation “threatens everything for which [The Kardashians] have worked.”

Meanwhile, Kim, Khloe & Kourtney’s NYC boutique, DASH, more than doubled its average daily gross on Black Friday. The store has been grossing $50,000 a day since it opened on November 3rd, and moved over $100,000 on Friday.

Of the three Kardashian stores, the NYC DASH has already become the most profitable.

Ice Cube Passes On Menace II Society & Speaks On His Love for Kanye & Lupe

In an interview with Hustler Magazine, Ice Cube revealed that he turned down the opportunity to be in Menace II Society and which MC’s out today impresses him. Check out Hustlermagazine.com for The full interview.

Ever turned down a role you should have taken? I was offered Menace II Society , but I turned it down because I had just done Boyz N the Hood. I didn’t want to get stuck playing just characters from the hood.

Are you impressed by any new MCs?I like what Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco are doing and where they are taking hip-hop. Those are good styles that are making hip-hop grow. It’s not dying as people say just because the mainstream is not paying attention anymore. It’s just back to where it came from—underground. In the ’90s, mainstream took hip-hop and tried to play it out. Rap is something that can’t die because it’s the voice of the youth. There is always something to be said by somebody somewhere, and there’s so many ways to say it now.
