Drake Prepares for Rap Game Retirement

“Talkin bout these other rappers gettin old is even gettin old.” Ladies and gentlemen, he meant what he said. Drake is preparing for the end of his career even though it’s just beginning. In a recent interview with i-D Magazine, Drake tells us that once he hits his 30’s, he plans on wrapping up his rap career, but before you get mad, listen to his logic. He feels as if the bulk of his music is based on “being young and figuring it all out.” So in his mind, once you hit a certain age and you’ve figured it all out, what else is there to rap about? He also speaks on other rap veterans and his feelings on their senior status.

“I personally think that when I find that person and when it is established we are going to enter a serious relationship–I mean I don’t even know if I’ll still be making rap music. I don’t know how long I necessarily want to make rap music for. You know, there are artists who are 35 and up that still make rap and that still works for them. I don’t know if I want to be that guy.

Drake isn’t the only artist from Young Money having these thoughts. Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj have at some time or another mentioned giving up the music. But I hope they stick around because the game definitely wouldn’t be the same without them. You can hear the entire interview below.
