Nothing says holiday music like Hypnotized Minds. Ok, maybe not exactly, but anytime Project Pat appears on the iPod is a day worth giving thanks for. Those who were unable to appreciate Project Pat and Three 6′s underground dominance during the late ’90s and early 2000s were cheated out of one of the most unique, and timeless sounds rap ever produced.
As the still gatekeepers and standards of Tenneesse Hip-Hop (along with ‘Ball and MJG), Pat’s Mista Don’t Play: Everythangs Workin’ was a groundbreaking LP of sorts. Led by the successful singles “Chickenhead” and “Don’t Save Her,” the project (no pun intended) itself was filled with modern day paramount records in their own right. One of those in particular was “Break The Law 2001″ featuring the whole gang (Three 6). New Taylor Gang fans may be surprised to hear Juicy J here. Contrary to popular belief, “Bandz” is not his greatest gift to Hip-Hop; although it is one of the year’s better singles.
