What an extremely sad day today, as stories are rolling in reporting the shooting and killing of 27 people at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut Among those people, 18 Kindergartners and the Principle Dawn Hochsprung are reported dead. Two of the shooters currently have been taken into custody, and as Associated Press reports, one of the attackers was a 20-year-old male connected to the school, who held a .223 -caliber rifle. A noted entire classroom has been unaccounted for as the school is tolling attendance of students throughout the chaos of parents trying to reach their children. Among the 27 dead reported is also the school’s psychologist as well as one of the shooters himself. As most of the shootings took place in the classrooms, the Hartfor Courant reports:
“Frustrated parents are trying to get information from officials, who are still actively searching the school. Eight year old Alexis Wasik, a third grader at the school, said police were checking everybody inside the school before they were escorted to the firehouse. One of the students leaving the school said that there was shattered glass everywhere. A police officer ran into the classroom and told them to run outside and keep going until they reach the firehouse”.
“Shortly after 9:40 a.m. police reported that a shooter was in the main office of the school. A person in one room had “numerous gunshot wounds” police said. -Group of students, some crying and some holding hands- were being escorted away from the school by their teachers. Some students were still in the school at 10:30 a.m. parents said. Dozens of state troopers on the scene assisting local police Heavily armed police gathered in front of the school around 10:45 and a number of stretchers were set up. A staging area has been set up for the students and their parents near the school”.

Living in a society today where nothing is certain, not even the safety of 4-5 year old students is very upsetting.
