In House of Lies, Showtimes top comedy series, Marty Kaan and his team of consulting experts are geniuses. They prove to be the sharks of BS’ing and that’s why they’re so great. Today we break down just a few key points about their office dynamics – which you will find hold some similarities to what you currently experience.

The Race Card – It’s very common that we find the race card being used in shows such as this, which it can either add or take away from the show. The writers of the show have done more than hit the nail, perfectly, has we see Mr. Kaan’s race is subtly brought up a few times. Being that he is African-American and the leader of the consulting group, it somehow adds poise to his character – as he rolls with the punches and still stands tall. With references such as “fo’ shizzle”, we can only recollect the water cooler conversations we’ve had with “what up, patna!” and other various phrases.

The Moving Office – Who doesn’t like to travel? No one? Exactly. Marty and his team are living it up! When they’re not in their actual office, they’re in some of the finest hotels enjoying top tier lunches and dinners and dressing in the finest of threads. If this is where BS’ing gets you, take me out of my current position and sign me up!

Raging Hormones – We don’t think that there’s an office code of conduct allowing sexual relations, but it happens, right? While it makes one cringe at the corrupt practices in some businesses, it adds some sort of excitement to the show that begins to get repetitive and take away after the 4th episode. The modern-day saying is don’t mix business with pleasure, and for some reason they can’t seem to understand the concept.
