Straight after releasing his long awaited EP; The Monologue, Jacob Banks headed over to the BBC Radio 1Xtra for a Live Lounge Session with DJ Trevor Nelson. Accompanied by the exceptional guitarist Abbas Shah and Emlyn Maillard on the keys, two backing vocalist who sound so perfectly pitched, the afternoon listener were in for a treat. Covering Rihanna’s Stay intertwined with Kendrick Lamar’s B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe had to have been one of the best arrangements thus far. Closing Something Beautiful fresh from his EP which can only be described as powerful and impassioned it’s no wonder the young man has taken the lead in bringing soul music back to the fore front in the UK.
