Using their unique story-telling abilities, “The Preface” captivates, providing a snap shot of the duo’s true-life experiences. Check out the full story and their latest video after the jump.
Having been groomed by their legendary father, hip-hop pioneer Doug E. Fresh, brothers Solomin “Trips” and Dayquan “Slim” Davis were exposed to the music industry landscape at an early age. The surreal experience of growing up surrounded by some of the greatest emcees ever to grace the stage has intrinsically shaped the duo’s reality. “People assume that because that’s our pops, we have it easy—but that’s not the case, nobody is holding our hand. We’ve had to grind even harder to get to that next level,” says Slim.
“The Preface” possesses unmatched authenticity, coupled with a versatile musicality rarely seen in today’s hip-hop. “The art of storytelling was the essence of hip-hop in the 80’s and 90’s,” says Trips. “We’re bringing that back, plus a lot of surprises.”
