After making the major announcement that his sixth studio album, Mastermind, would be taking over the fourth quarter of the year when it is released on December 17, Rick Ross sat down with Civil TV. “To me, a mastermind is one who is on a path to accomplishing whatever it is he set out to accomplish,” The Maybach Music leader stated. “When you hit that mark and you hit it the way you wanted to hit it, you executed that properly.”

When discussing the album, Rozay states that the album is going to be what the streets want and is composed of content from what he has recently experienced. “In the last year you know I seen some things, I been through somethings, so you going to feel that passion and  that aggression. You know certain things that’s getting addressed in the records and I think the streets going to really love this,”  Ross discloses. While Mastermind will feed the ear of the streets, it will also contain a soulful side to the album as Ross states “the soulful side of, you know, the album I’m putting final touches on a particular record that I’m hoping to get Bobby Womack on.”

While providing insight that he is making sure to reach back and build relationships through efforts like the MMG Weekend, Ross also makes it clear that you don’t have to be a member of Maybach Music to connect with him. “It’s just all about, like I say man, just building relationships and partnerships, with artist I’m fans of and as you spoke on, artists like Nipsey Hussle, artists like Dom Kennedy. I support their movements and vice versa, that’s just what we doing on this side.”

Although Rozay’s album is dropping near the end of the year he was still found on one of the year’s biggest songs in Jay Z’s “F*ckwitmeyouknowigotit”. “He was playing me the records, you know, “Picasso baby” so on and so forth. And you know we just wanted to collaborate and I just wanted that south and make sure that the south was heard. Last time I felt one of those southern record with Hov was that Big Pimpin’, so that’s why you see the Pimp C coming in on the intro,” he states on the making of the summer Smash.

Rick Ross didn’t spill all the secrets on the upcoming Mastermind, but did state that he has two more annoucnements coming, check out the full Civil TV interview above.
