Last night, Hip-Hop got yet another young soul taken away. Rapper Slim Dunkin, born Mario Hamilton was shot in the chest while in a recording studio in his hometown Atlanta, Georgia. Slim was apart of Waka Flocka‘s group Brick Squad Monopoly and was well known for his high energy level at shows as well as on tracks. Reports say that the killer is still on the run but Major Keith Meadows of the Atlanta Police Department says the entire police department is working hard to solve the case.

Also above is a documentary of Slim Dunkin which was shot prior to his death. The video also features his last performance in Atlanta at the Wild Atlanta 105.7′s Holiday Bash. Waka Flocka or Gucci Mane has yet to speak on the tragic death, but updates will be made once they do so. They say the good die young, and it looks like we lost another one. Condolences to Slim Dunkin’s family as well as the entire Brick Squad team.

UPDATE: According to the above news report, Dunkin got into a confrontation with the suspect over a 10 cent piece of candy which later escalated to to Slim Dunkin being shot.

It’s that time of the year again, and XXL Magazine has revealed a long list of this year’s potential freshman. Not sure how I feel about the long list or even about half of these “Freshman” rappers. You can vote for your favorite freshman until January 1st, 2012 so be sure you go and vote to make a difference. A list of the candidates are below. In all honesty, I say they just give Alley Boy, A. Rocky, Casey, Cobain, XV, Neako, Macklemore, MGK, Kid ink & Iggy Azalea.

It seems as if South Africa is a wonderful place and they love themselves some Rick Ross. While there, Dre Films follows Rick Ross around the beautiful South African area all the way up until his show in Johannesburg. Not only did Rick Ross rock the crowd but he also got a chance to create a lot of music, hence to why he will be releasing a new mixtape soon. n an unprecedented comeback move, D.C. rapper Wale has added another milestone in his career: his first #1 record at Urban Radio. Although he released a torrent of music and videos leading up to the release of his sophomore album Ambition, “Lotus Flower Bomb” – featuring R&B crooner Miguel — is the second official single off the album since Wale aligned with Maybach Music Group. A video featuring “America’s Next Top Model: Cycle 5″ contestant Bre Scullark is currently in rotation on MTV and BET.

Ambition remains in the Top 100 with over 270,000 units sold since its release in November. The album features appearances from Maybach Music Group brethren Rick Ross and Meek Mill, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, and a host of R&B’s finest to smooth out the record including Ne-Yo, Jeremih, Miguel and Lloyd. Diplo and Lex Luger each lend their talents to the album’s soundscape amongst a handful of talented up-and-comers.

A video for the dance floor banger “Slight Work” was shot in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 15th. Directed by R&Bpop singer Chris Brown, the video features G.O.O.D Music rapper Big Sean and will debut at the top of the new year.

While in Australia, Lil Wayne managed to get the entire Monster Skatepark shut down for him to have some fun. Despite falling and busting his elbow, Weezy insists that he had a great time and you can see that above. George Orozco pulls out the cameras as we all get to take a walk with Kid Ink while he’s in L.A. with DJ Ill Will. He first stops by the Beats By Dre Headquarters and meets Karen for the first time and also gets some 100 percent champagne proof headphones. After leaving the headquarters, Kid Ink makes his way to Ned Cameron‘s studio to begin work on his debut album.
