Atlanta-based artist Dose is set to release his debut mixtape, The OverDose, to follow-up on the success of his bubbling single, “Where They Do That At (remix, feat. Rick Ross & Fabolous).” The OverDose will focus on Dose’s ability to excel in not only making catchy hooks, but displaying a lyrical versatility not seen in the South since T.I.’s prime.

"Civilized Talk" finds us at a funeral service. A joyous and upbeat one at that. After weeks of push backs, 11th hour recordings and a few back and forth squabbles with DJ Drama on Twitter, their highly anticipated mixtape, There Is No Competition 2.

Ok, Nicki, I Believe You Now

jtnicki

The  footage below was shot at Ibiza in Washington D.C. last week. To set the scene even more, just know the temperature was around 19 degrees with the wind making it painfully more colder. I happened to be in attendance that night, albeit very far from the chaos that was the dance floor. From my view from the DJ booth, I saw the crowd grow more and more as the minutes passed that night, all with one thing in mind. The night before, Drake and Nicki Minaj were scheduled to be at Club LOVE. Due to recent violent events, their appearances and the entire establishment were canceled.

Honestly, I knew Nicki Minaj had a buzz surrounding her. That’s apparent with the ridiculous number of females mimicking her look and style on a daily basis. Hell, I’m even a fan of some of her work. When she wants to, she can come correct on a track (I still believe she had the #1 “Best I Ever” remix). Even better, her personality and niche’ have blossomed at the most ideal time. Female MC’s are a rare breed, that’s obvious. What may not be so obvious to those who aren’t fans of the 24-year-old New York bred femcee is her following. It happens to be reaching levels which would make the most veteran of artists stop and take look. Read rest of story…

Chris Brown – "ABC"

At first glance, I immediately jumped to conclusion and thought this to be a Jackson 5 cover. Turns out I was drastically wrong, but the song is quality nonetheless with Dre and Vidal providing the instrumental (FYI, I never listened to the snippet which leaked awhile back). No word yet on if this will eventually make an album, but my guess is no. Then again, I’ve been wrong before. Don’t look now though, the “Chris Brown comeback” is upon us. I think.

R&B Re-Up: Marques Houston x Omarion

No, this isn’t promotion for another “You Got Served” movie. As far as I know Marques Houston and Young Money’s newest R&B act, Omarion, are in the studio working on new albums. Both have had massive mainstream success in the past, but have been out of the public eye for quite sometime, so it should be interesting to see what both have in store. Coincidentally, the good people at BMF have organized a zip file for previously unreleased music from the two.

R&B enthusiasts feel free to hit the jump.
