Last night, Don Cannon vented on Twitter about people who continuously ask for the NO DJ version of mixtapes – specifically his. I tend to agree with him mainly because drops aren’t that annoying to me and bring another element to the tape. As long as it’s not the “for sample clearance only” tag then I’m alright with drops. In moderation and as long as they do not overshadow the artist, of course.

That being said, here’s the untagged version of Big Sean’s collabo with Bun B, “Money & Sex.” I still have yet to sit down and give Finally Famous 3 an honest listen, so hopefully I can do that today. For the most part, I’m hearing good reviews and hearing the production is even better. Hopefully that’s the case. For those who have yet to scoop the tape,

You know what it is.

After securing a major deal with Atlantic (via his longtime indie label Rostrum Records), Wiz Khalifa took to Twitter to offer his fans a track from his upcoming debut album. Sure to become an anthem for his hometown of Pittsburgh, the catchy “Black & Yellow” was produced by Norwegian hitmakers Stargate.

This? THIS is the Fab people came up on long before the Internet connected the world to Hot 97. For me, a young kid from VA at the time, I’d always hear of these epic freestyles Loso (who still spelled his name during this era) would lace over the tri-state airwaves. DJ Clue was hyping the guy as the next savior of rap music. And every mixtape I got my hands on would leave me to believe he was telling the truth. Since then, John Jackson has gone on to create a successful career for himself with a string of platinum albums and several hit singles.

It’s still good to see he hasn’t forgotten his roots though. Earlier tonight, Funeral Fab stopped by Funk Flex’s show and dropped this five minute freestyle equipped with more punchlines than a Smack DVD battle. Flex wasn’t shy with the bombs either.

Raise ya glass, now let’s toast to when we didn’t have

DL: Fabolous – “Funk Flex Freestyle”

If you haven’t heard from Donny Goines in a minute, don’t trip. It’s all apart of a bigger plan. The album, Yesterday’s Tomorrow, is still brewing and will be available sooner than later. In the meantime, take this as a peace offering. Goines jumps over Dirty Money’s “Hello, Good Morning” and adds his own flare to the party anthem.

I love Justin Bieber. Openly. Without shame. There’s no denying his appeal with the thousands of teen girls who cry when he takes stages around the world. He’s a heartthrob phenomenon,who went from posting webcam videos on Youtube to performing at Madison Square Garden. Truthfully the kid’s latest album had some great tracks, and production.  There is a little bit of soul in his voice that reminds me of another fair-skinned pop-tinged R&B singing Justin that took the industry by storm a few years ago, and I’m the not the only one who took notice.

Kanye West and Wu Tang legend Raekwon added a couple of verses to JB’s latest single “Runaway Love” after they traded pleasantries on Twitter. This track is the first product of their vow to team up, released yesterday via Kanye’s blog…and I see an original collaboration coming in the near future.

The track, produced by Boi-1da, is the first single from Pimp C’s upcoming album The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones, which arrives in stores October 5th.

When times are rough do you know who has your back? Plies wanted to make it a point to let his friend Lil Boosie know that throughout his troublesome situation, he would hold him down. This new track, from the mixtape “You Need People Like Me”, is a dedication to “Boosie”, who is currently serving a four year prison sentence for drug & gun possession, and was recently indicted on an unrelated murder charge that could put him on death row. He’s denied any involvement with the murder, and is awaiting trial. Hopefully, hearing this song will lift his spirits.

I’m probably the only one who feels this way and that’s fine, but Styles P didn’t need to be on “B.M.F.” Not because his rhyming skills are subpar because they aren’t. Styles has been holding it down for years and I don’t see much changing in that department. With that being said though, his presence didn’t do much to add to the song other than extending the olive branch to New York for the summer’s biggest anthem.

Pinero decides to take the beat for a solo trip as he let go of the extended verse of “B.M.F.” Maybe it’s because he didn’t have to follow the energy set forth by Ross, but him alone on the track does sound better. What’s good with that L.O.X. album that has supposedly been “on its way” since 2007 though?
