Big Boi feat. Too $hort & George Clinton – “Fo’ Yo’ Sorrows” (Video)

I try to be as honest as possible whenever I post here, so this next statement is no different. This song has been on rotation since the first time I heard it months ago. Rest assured, however, Big Boi’s long awaited and heavily anticipated debut, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, will hit stores this year. I can all but guarantee that. (Keep reading…)

Notorious Thugz

Time passes. People pass. But memories don’t. Like November 22 in politics or April 4 in civil rights, March 9 and September 13 are two dates which will forever live in infamy. It never fails to cause that same sense of pride and sadness each year. If you’re still living under a rock, March 9, 2010, marks the 13th anniversary since the murder of Christopher Wallace, better known as The Notorious B.I.G. Depending who you ask, the name Biggie Smalls evokes acronyms of “G.O.A.T.” or “K.O.N.Y.” Regardless, “icon” is pretty much the settled upon title.

But with the pride and joy that comes with listening to his music, comes the depression of still unanswered questions. I was 10 when ‘Pac died and 11 with Biggie. I still remember hiding my cassette tapes of Ready To Die and Me Against The World under my bed from my mother. I knew the music was great, but it was only over time I’d understand the significance of their murders. I’ve got books on the subject, as well as DVD’s. In a sense, both Pac and Biggie’s death were horrible realizations of some of their lyrics. Like my big homie Gotty said, Pac seemed to embrace death while B.I.G. seemed to enjoy the finer things in life (even though he knew an early death was a very possible reality). (Keep reading…)

Lil Wayne feat. Eminem – "Drop The World" (Video)

Almost a month after the Grammy’s, the visual for Lil Wayne and Eminem’sDrop The World” finally, well, dropped. I see a lot of people going back and forth about who had the better verse on the record. Wayne with melodic, slow paced delivery while Em stupefied everyone with his rapid fire flow. Different, but both complemented each other well enough to create a dope track.

In other Young Money related news,Cory Gunz is rumored to will be signing with the label, according to Wayne himself. After Corey Gunz,  ”A Milli” freestyle two years ago. No time like the present. Lloyd is also said to be in talks with joining the team. Mack Maine & Tyga stopped by The Source office last week to discuss why Lloyd was being added to the massive Young Money line up. This makes sense seeing as how many people have already associated him Wayne over the years and his feature on the smash hit, “Bedrock.” Young Money continues to strike while the iron’s hot.

Ludacris feat. Nicki Minaj – "My Chick Bad" (Video)

The concept behind Luda’s newest venture, Battle Of The Sexes, has literally been through more changes than a LeBron/New York Knicks rumor. As the release date approaches, more decisions are being set in stone and one of them happens to be his newest visual with one of the game’s most in-demand names at the moment, Nicki Minaj.

Truthfully, this track might actually turn out as a succcessful follow up single to Luda’s club anthem, “How Low.” It’s catchy and has two popular rappers as its spokespeople. That doesn’t necessarily guarantee success, but it definitely is a great starting point. And from what people have told me, it may, in fact, be the best track on the album. Take that however you’d please.

After the jump, take a glimpse of Nicki’s newest journalistic accomplishment. (Keep reading…)

DJ Khaled Co-Signs Alley Boy

Hopefully by now you have a clear definition of what “fuck shit” actually is. If you don’t, allow yourself to catch up. Alley Boy’s buzz seems to be increasing by the day. So much so that the “mouth of the south,” DJ Khaled, believes in the Duct Tape Entertainment movement. With stars like Ludacris, Jeezy and Tip already firmly planted in Hip-Hop’s fabric, Gucci Mane ready to assume as the A’s next mainstream star and Waka Flocka’s stock seemingly on the rise, it’ll be interesting to see how Alley’s career will play out in 2K10.

As a bonus, look for the NO DJ version of the tape to drop sometime next week.

Young Money Interview At Roots Jam Session

Footage from Grammy weekend is still matriculating to the internet. My ticket was obviously lost in the mail, so I’m not tripping. Anywho, the above clip is Young Money at the Roots Jam Session. If you remember, KC gave her account of what the evening was like when she attended. Black Tree Media caught up with Mack Maine, Lil’ Twist and Shanell where they expose what it’s like working with Lil’ Wayne, what the secret is behind new talent and what to expect from Young Money as a whole for the rest of the year.

Drake Reveals First Single Info

The other day someone asked me what was up with Drake and the status of Thank Me Later. I didn’t have an answer. Last I heard, “Shut It Down” with The-Dream was rumored to be the first single. Other than that, I had no new info. Life has all answers and 98% of the time it’s on YouTube.

While performing at HAZE Nightclub in “Sin City,” Aubrey let loose of info regarding the much anticipated first single. Here’s the skinny.

Title – “Over”

Yep, that’s all I have. You’ll have to wait awhile longer for more info. That said, I’d expect to hear it soon seeing how most artists drop singles a month (and a  half) before the album drops. In case you can’t get enough of the Toronto resident/Grammy winner, hit the jump to see him performing “Forever” with the All Star and season MVP, LeBron James.

We Are The World 25 For Haiti – Official Video

Recorded on February 1st, 2010, in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier (Henson Recording Studios, formerly A&M Recording Studios) “We Are The World 25 For Haiti”, in which Jones and Richie serve as executive producers and producers, was created in collaboration with executive producers Wyclef Jean, Randy Phillips and Peter Tortorici; producers Humberto Gattica and RedOne; and co-producers Rickey Minor, Mervyn Warren and Patti Austin to benefit the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti.

Academy Award-winning writer-director Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby), whose own personal efforts as well as those of Artists for Peace and Justice have already saved countless lives in Haiti, filmed the private recording session to create the accompanying video and behind-the-scenes production, and serves as Film Director and as an Executive Producer with Jones, Richie, Jean, Phillips and Tortorici.
