Drake – Take Care Album Review

Aubrey “Drake” Graham is no stranger to pressure after dropping one of the most ground breaking mixtapes in history Drake felt the pressure of a entire industry awaiting the next chosen one and with Thank Me Later Drake rose above the expectations and exceeded them. Once again drake is back in the same position and with Take Care drake exceeds expectations.
Over My Dead Body – The Album’s opening track brings us back to the Drake that we remember with witty punch lines and metaphors Drake gives us a reason to go deeper into the album “Are these people discussing my career again/wondering if ill go platinum in a year again/do Michael Jordan still got his hoop earring in?” brings us to the Braggadocios drake that we’ve come to love
A couple songs down the line Drake teams with newcomer The Weeknd for crew love and it turns out to be a smash. One of the better songs on the album shows Drake spitting lines like “Seeing my family have it all/took the place of that desire for diplomas on the wall… the realest n*ggas say your lyrics do shit for me/I took my story and made HIS Story (history). Although short Crew Love has a high replay value.
The Albums title track “Take Care” has Drizzy Teaming with rumored love interest Rihanna even though their love chemistry didn’t pan out this does. With an uptempo house style beat Drake Croons along side Rihanna to create a party starter. If you enjoyed Find Your Love you’ll love Take Care
Further down the album holds One of my favorite songs on the Album “Underground Kings” which shows Drakes never ending respect and admiration for the southern music scene. With a slow beat and Drake rapping at a fast pace it turns out to be magic. This is Drake at his best.
Through out the album there are several surprise pop ups from Stevie Wonder (Doing It Wrong) And Andre 3000 (The Real Her) who both provide and add their own touch to this album. Drake also adds newcomer Kendrick Lamar to the fold who adds his fast paced flow to buried alive (interlude)
And Drake shows he’s most Vulnerable on look what you’ve done. In probably his most emotional song to date Drake pens a open letter to his mother and uncle. Expressing the relationship between the two people who helped him to where he is today can make you feel the love Drake has for them.
Overall The Album gets a 4.5 out of 5. No it’s not reasonable doubt or a lyrical masterpiece rather it’s a artist not afraid to step out of the realm of hip hop and give you the best and worst of his world and makes a masterpiece out of it
