One of the first people (probably the first) to put me on to Yelawolf was the homie Maurice Garland. It still stumps me how this guy isn’t an A&R somewhere. He has one of the best ears for music and talent of anyone I’ve met in life. In this sit down with the Alabama native, Mo’ really dives into the story that is Yela.

With the age of the internet and everyone having a site with “exclusive interviews,” conditioning oneself to the better segments is vital. This isn’t the typical “when’s your album coming out? – who are you signing to? – what can we expect from Yelawolf?” interview. Better yet, let Maurice himself tell it.

Scoob noted this video would be premiered at noon today. Since nothing ever goes according to plan with the internet, midnight is the new noon anyway. In what looks to be the lone visual from Weezy’s No Ceilings, Scoob and his camera bring one of the tape’s most unique tracks to life.

The visual is compiled of in studio footage of Wayne playing the record, at a video shoot (pretty sure it’s “Miss Officer”) and video vixens playing the job of Dr. Carter’s love (dis)interest. All in all, a suitable video given Wayne’s schedule and lifestyle prior checking into Rikers. Here’s what Scoob had to say in regards to his directorial debut.

This is all the internet’s fault. Earlier in the week, reports of Dr. Dre performing at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival alongside Jay-Z began running rampant. This naturally led people to believe the two would perform their incredibly anticipated collab, “Under Pressure.” The world would finally receive their first chance to hear proof that the album which had been been under debate for so long as to whether it was even real or not actually existed. But nope, didn’t happen. Like a roach when the lights come on, Dre was nowhere to be found at the end of the day and we all continue to wait in limbo.

What actually happened was Jay bring his ol’ lady to work with him – someone who is somewhat experienced on a stage herself, Beyonce. Hip-Hop’s first couple performed the last song on Blueprint 3, “Forever Young,” in Indio, California. I guess it is true what they say. The couple that performs together, stays together.

Aside from the Carters, Wale and Yelawolf hit the stage last night to entertain the crowd. Look for acts like MGMT, Thom Yorke, De La Soul and others to perform this weekend as well.

There was a point in time when Plies was one of the more in-demand mainstream acts in the game. Definition of Real was a good album regardless of what the majority believe. Now, well, not so much.  Goon Affiliated hits stores May 25 and “She Got It Made” serves as the first single. If you haven’t heard the song yet, it’s the Plies we’ve come to know – a sing-songy type record directed towards his female fans. “Bust It Baby” or “Shawty” this is not, but it’s what Algernod is running with.

The hook could definitely use some work, but I’ll leave the constructive criticism to the experts. Crazy though, it seems like yesterday when “Got ‘Em Hatin’” was a summer anthem.

With June appearing to be the heavy month in terms of album releases, let us not forget Clifford Harris is already locked in for August 24. Tip, who has been relatively quiet since his release, is preparing to hit the ground sprinting in the coming weeks. His collab mixtape with DJ Drama, ironically title Fuck A Mixtape, is dropping soon and The King recently caught up with Rolling Stone to discuss King Uncaged and the impact it could potentially have.

For those familiar with T.I.’s music, it serves as no shock that Tupac was always one of his more revered prophytes. He went on to explain that his new album may conjure memories of Shakur’s 1996 post-prison-proclamation, All Eyez On Me.

“This is the most significant return from incarceration that the game has had since then,” T.I. says. “Just given the enormous success of that project, everyone’s expecting the same results. I just want to meet the expectations, if not surpass them.”

Since I embarked on this online Hip-Hop writing venture some two years ago, I’ve been honored to met a few people in high places. Karla Moy, better known as hustleGRL, is one of them. To put it lightly, she more than lives up to her name. Designing covers for everyone, including Weezy’s No Ceilings, running Drake’s official fansite and Weezy’s blog, it’s easy to forget she still hasn’t graduated from high school. And to think, at 17, my crowning achievement was winning “Homecoming King” and being accepted to college a year early. I was such a slacker.

Karla’s expanding her hustle to television now. On this MuchMusic segment that aired yesterday, Miss Moy gave the break down on a list of topics including:

To be quite honest, I haven’t heard the full 20 minutes of Game’s recent marathon “400 Bars.” Apparently, he mentioned something about Jay Rock which quickly got back to his fellow Blood brother. Even mentioned Cube for good measure. If you’re unfamiliar with that situation, Ice Cube recently performed a song entitled “Drink The Kool Aid” in which many interpreted several of his lines directed towards Dr. Dre. Doughboy (that’s Cube) denied these claims and even revealed Dre would be working on his next album.
