It may have taken a tad longer than expected, but XXLgot the controversy they wanted with their “2010 Freshman.” I’ve had my own qualms about it (taking out OJ and adding Waka if they wanted So Icey to be represented. Young Money upperclassmen Jae Millzdidn’t feel the same way and voiced his opinion regarding the cover and the absence of Cam’ron’s new protege’, Vado.

“…Can’t no nigga tell me that my nigga Vado ain’t supposed to be on that cover (or on the flip cover). And if you do want to argue with me, you can argue with me about anything. I only know five niggas out of the 10 niggas on that cover. And my ear is to the streets.”

Watch the entire interview because, if nothing else, it’s entertaining. Here’s the thing though, Millz is entitled to his opinion like all of us. But when all the dust settles, the real winner in all this will be XXL. Lists are supposed to get people talking and – in most circumstances – cause a shit storm of controversy. Like so. They’re going to sell magazines and the hype for next year’s cover is only going to increase. Like Millz, I try to keep my ear to the streets blogs, so In my opinion, the 2010 cover > 2009 cover by a mile.

Patience is a virtue. Time is of the essence.

Two completely different cliches, but two describing the progression of Stanley “Stat Quo” Benton. Since signing with Aftermath nearly a decade ago, Quo’s debut album, Statlanta, has been ready for liberation. However, due to the inner workings that are the politics of the industry, the album has yet to hit shelves. That’s not to say the ATLien hasn’t found success in his own right. In a recent interview with Stat, he candidly spoke about the album, SXSW, the possibility of seeing Detox before 2012, his new label situation with Sha Money XL, March Madness and even about new track he has which is slated to feature Lauryn Hill. Yes, that Lauryn Hill.

Last weekend this song appeared and a week later LLoyd Banks brings us the visual for it…. For the 3rd time 50 Cent directs a video and this is pretty much like the Tony Yayo “Obama” Video (interpret that how you felt about the video).. This is off LLoyd Banks Next LP “The Hunger For More Part 2″ …While no date has been set for the album to be released it’ll be released under G-Unit Records as opposed to interscope…

Sean and the band (no pun intended) may have found themselves a bonafide hit with “Hello, Good Morning.” It’s uptempo, catchy, touts a superstar co-sign (no, not Diddy) and has Danja on the beat. Sounds like a recipe for success. Maybe it’s pure coincidence or something that’s premeditated, but it seems as long Dirty Money has a rapper featured on every track, Last Train To Paris may be quite the trip. Look at the body of work thus far.

Ross bodied the “Angels (remix)” while Drake definitely didn’t disappoint on “Hurt.” Continuing his tear of impressive verses in 2K10, T.I. lends his services to the Bad Boy ensemble and, as usual, drops off a tailor-made verse ready for radio stations and music video countdowns alike. And since The King is free from his federally mandated exile, it won’t be a surprise if a video for this isn’t already in the works.

Look for Dirty Money to perform this record Wednesday on “American Idol,” sans-Clifford. Also, add this album to the summer 2010 list which is already peppered with projects from Drake, Jeezy, Rick Ross, T.I., Nicki Minaj and The Dream. June 22 is the date the train is expected to finally depart from the station.
