Update: It looks like the new Power 105 morning crew will include Angela Yee (Sirus XM/ Shade 45), DJ Envy, and Charlamagne Tha God. Ed Lover took to his Twitter to congratulate the trio and give them props.
No word on what Ed Lover’s next move is.
A major change to NY radio went down and it involves legendary Hip-Hop personality Ed Lover.
WWPR/Power 105.1 has fired its veteran morning man Ed Lover, along with show producer Sarah O’Connor. Lover had been with the Hip-Hop station since its inception in 2002. Originally, he was part of the morning team that featured Doctor Dre and Lisa G. (moved from rival WQHT/Hot 97). The show eventually was switched to afternoon drive.
Lover returned to the station in 2006 after Star and Buc Wild’s departure.
So Dre is really serious this time about this Detox thing is what it looks like. What we have here is the behind-the-scenes footage of the supposed first single, “Kush,” with Snoop and Akon from the mythical album.
50 Cent (who gets crazy love towards the end of the video), E-40, Roccett, Glasses Malone, Menace and more all make cameos.
Sampling Pink’s track of the same title, look for this to be a bonus track from Nicki’s Pink Friday set to drop on Monday.

Beginning today (Nov. 20), BET’s 106 & Park will now be heard on New York’s Hot 97 on Saturdays 10AM – 12PM. The countdown already airs on 60 radio stations nationwide, including 6 of the top 10 U.S. markets. To sweeten the deal, Hot 97 will now officially become part of Westwood One’s BET Radio Network which specializes in news and music programming, tailored to contemporary urban stations.
“We are excited to be part of Westwood One’s BET Radio Network,†said Ebro Darden, VP of Programming, EMMIS NY and Program Director of HOT 97. “ Terrence and  Rocsi have become staples within the Hip-Hop and R&B music culture while hosting BET’s 106 & Park Countdown over the last several years. It only makes sense to bring these high profile personalities to the most influential Hip-Hop Radio station in the world. They are smart, full of
energy and passionate about their fans. We welcome them to the HOT 97 family!”“We always look to associate the best products with the best stations,†said Dennis Green, Westwood One EVP Affiliate Sales. “We are pleased to be partnering with HOT 97 in New York to bring both the BET Radio Network and 106th and Park Countdown, the most powerful brands in Urban radio, to listeners in New York.â€
To go along with the latest news, music and gossip, the radio show will also features several original segments. “On The Reel” will focus on African Americans in film and “BET Look Ahead” will review and preview BET programming.
After weeks of playing it cool and saying that “Roman’s Revenge” was not aimed towards Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj sat down with Hot 97′s Angie Martinez to clear the air. Nick spoke with Angie about everything surrounding her career and even took questions from a studio audience.
She opened up on how attending an art school influenced her career, her trip to Trinidad and how she handled Lil Wayne’s absence. From there, the question of the hour came up (“Are you getting at Lil Kim?”) and Nicki kept it politically correct by saying, “It’s not directed toward anyone. Just all those that talked about me.” That quickly turned into, “My Barbies know exactly who that’s about. If you’ve never done or said anything, you wouldn’t feel guilty!†And from there, it really got things really got hectic.
“When I see your name on Billboard, then I’ll respond to you. If you are bitter, get a life! You’re gonna go down in history as a sore loser instead of the Queen. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Don’t play with me. When I see it on the Billboard, that’s when I’ll respond.”

December 7 is shaping up to be Grand Hustle Day. T.I.’s No Mercy is set to drop that day and – a pleasant surprise indeed – we’ll all be treated to a new mixtape from the label’s current go-to artist B.o.B. Given his crossover success thus far, it only makes sense Bobby would call the new project No Genre.
Shot by the good people at Motion Family, “Beast Mode” proves that while Bobby Ray may not identify himself with one style of music, this is straight Hip-Hop.
With J. Cole’s latest mixtape Friday Night Lights, the response has been almost unanimously positive. The Roc Nation star in the making caught up with AllHipHop.com to discuss the tape and more importantly the future.
“I was searching for a title that kinda explained my situation,” J.Cole told AllHipHop.com. “I found it with that. I love the fact that the character of J.Cole is like this high school varsity athlete. So I wanted to stay in that realm in terms of the story. It feels like the big game is coming, you know its feel like that pressure that a player feels. It’s a few things, there’s pressure, excitement, anxiety, confidence, doubt all those things right before the big game. I felt that name kind of embodied all feelings.”
With the label still in the works, Cole has always been secretive about who would take part in the process. Kanye is one person he said he’d love to have involved with the project however, after he builds up his name to where he would be comfortable to work alongside the legendary producer/artist.
But about the album, Cole had this to say.
