My journey to get familiar with Jon Connor continues with his new leak donning the same name as a Nas classic, “The Message.” There’s no point in comparing the two, but I’ll be damned if Connor didn’t impress me again with a flow that’s as sharp as it is crazy. I still don’t know much about the guy aside from the two tracks I’ve heard. That being said, the early seeds of success are being planted and he’s definitely attempting to make himself someone to look out for in 2011.

Nevermind the negative press the state receives at times, Denard Robinson and Jon Connor are two reasons to pay attention to the state of Michigan this year. Jon Connor As Vinnie Chase coming soon.

When Swiftgate went down, you would be hard pressed to find someone who didn’t voice their opinion on Kanye West. One of the biggest, yet most surprising was President Barack Obama. Even though it was an unauthorized leak, ‘Ye took the time to reflect on what meant to even be recognized by his fellow Chicago resident in the new issue of XXL, on stands now.

When Obama called me “jackass”, after the Taylor incident, I thought that the person who taped that wasn’t supposed to tape it. Obama was supposed to be speaking off the record. Obama has way more important stuff to worry about than my public perception. He was trying to pass the healthcare bill. And if he said that to relate to the room or lighten the room up and the whole mood, then I’d be more than happy to be the butt of all of his jokes if it in the some way helps his overall mission. I’m a soldier of culture. I’m resilient. I’m sure I’ll still beat him in basketball.

Long rumored and no confirmation, here is the YouTube version of J. Cole’s track for NBA Elite ’11 “The Plan.” That being said, Cole may have the most anticipated feature on the game.

NBA 2K11 looks to the runaway winner in terms of NBA video games this fall though. In related news, look for Cole, Miguel, K. Michelle and CJ Hilton to take part in the Music Matters Tour this fall.

Pusha T has been one of the most talked about artists in recent weeks with his official signing to G.O.O.D. and his feature on Kanye’s confessional comeback anthem “Runaway.” After some brief technical difficulties, the braided half of the Clipse and I had a brief conversation and spoke about:

- If his signing to G.O.O.D. is a solo situation or if it includes he and his brotherAs we speak right now, it’s a solo situation. We’ve been in talks about including the Clipse album as well.

- How Malice feels about his decision to pursue a solo career - We’re still making music. He’s actually working on a book and a film right now, so his “down time” isn’t so down. It’s something we’ve always discussed just with having the whole Re-Up Gang situation. We were just like we need to expand on the brand as much as  possible. If that means putting out a Clipse album, a Re-Up Gang album, a solo album , anything that just makes the brand grow.

Bruno Mars is not the first artist to be caught with cocaine – or “booger sugar” as TMZ refers to it – and he damn sure won’t be the last. Buddy may not even be the last artist to get caught with it this year if Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan have any say. I just hope Bruno, and anybody else out there doing nose candy, somehow manage to keep their lives in tact to the point they’re not on E! True Hollywood Stories in five years. If that show still even comes on.

Regardless, this guy has been one of the freshest additions in the music industry in a good while and a personal favorite since I was put on towards the beginning of this year. I’ve yet to really speak on the song, but “Just The Way You Are” has one of those timeless feels to it. It’s a record not exclusive to any generation and one any age bracket can find the silver lining in. Truth is, pop records tend to have a long shelf life. It will probably still end up getting played at proms next spring and if you can convince your grandparents to give it a listen they may even crack a smile in approval.

First, Kanye West made amends with Taylor Swift. Now, he’s making up with “Saturday Night Live.”

After the NBC sketch comedy skewered the rapper in an opening monologue for his MTV VMA-Taylor Swift run-in, West penned lyrics for his recent single “Power” : “F**k SNL and the whole cast / Tell ‘em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole a*s…

But NBC confirmed Monday that West will be the musical guest on the October 2 episode, hosted by “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston. West last appeared on the show in December 2008.
