Yesterday, I had the opportunity to catch up with my good friend Pusha T before he hit the stage with N*E*R*D on 106 & Park. Before he went on the stage, we chopped it up about a handful of recent topics which have concerned him. He expressed his thoughts on Consequence’s “Man Purses” which raised many eyebrows with the “my crew ain’t been the same since Amber Rose and Taylor Swift” line. We also shifted the conversation to his brother Malice. Pusha speaks on his recent revealing “Wretched, Pitiful, Poor, Blind & Naked” and if anything Mal said actually reflects his current mindstate.

The conversation wasn’t all heavy however. Push spoke on the G.O.O.D. Fridays series and the one verse  - which made him say  ”wow” and the one thing about recording his solo project which has surprised him. Lastly, I got him (also known as “Slander P” on Twitter) to speak about if he actually takes his replies on the site seriously.

Gangsta like Scholly D, no fraudin’ in here/Fresh Prince of the city, no Carlton in here/Soul child of the music (Musiq), it’s the home of The Roots/Livin’ life like it’s golden, bumpin’ Jill in the coupe…

This *jawn* has really grew on me over the past few weeks, so “Philly Shit” has to be an anthem in the 215 by now. And I was already a fan of the song to begin with. I hate repeating myself, but here’s to this guy finally getting the respect he deserves. With the right single, the right push and the right team behind him, Chris could make some noise. We’ll see what the future holds though.

But yeah, about the video, it’s directed by Salvatore Fullmore and has a cameo from fellow State Propper Freeway.

For awhile, the rumor was that singer/songwriter Sean Garrett would be signing with Young Money due to his close relationships with many at the label. “The Pen”  however – who has created songs for Brittney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce, Chris Brown and  more – has decided to take his talents to Columbia Records.

Multi-Platinum singer/songwriter/producer Sean “The Pen” Garrett has inked a deal with Columbia Records and is ready to step into the spotlight as a solo artist. Dubbed “The Pen” by Jay-Z, Garrett is now focused on his own performing career as well as taking his songwriting and producing to a whole new international level.

On signing with Columbia Records, Garrett stated, “To be working with a label as esteemed and respected as Columbia Records, it’s a huge honor for me. Columbia has produced some of the biggest albums and the greatest artists of all time so to have their support behind me means a lot.”

Like Huey himself, however, the law can’t stop the movement. The Pittsburgh Pirate has been in the news quite often this week, but those felony charges don’t seem to be slowing the Taylor Gang grind down. The newly freed Wiz Khalifa dropped this off via his Twitter page yesterday. “Huey Newton” features his brother in bongs Curren$y and caters to their core audience of weed smokers as this will likely find its way on smoking playlists across the country.

Of course, when new music from these two surface, the first question to immediately surface is if the second installment of How Fly is on the way. Well, no one knows for sure, but if it is, that sure as hell wouldn’t be a bad gift for the holidays.

DL: Curren$y & Wiz Khalifa – “Huey Newton”

The pride and joy of Roc Nation, J. Cole, is set to release his much anticipated Friday Night Lights mixtape in a little over 24 hours. To further increase interest in the project, Wale’s people – The Board Administration – decided to let go of this 20-minute, two segment mini-documentary which offers exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Wale and Cole during their Atlanta concert in September.

Aside from the big two, look for appearances from Black Cobain, Fat Trel and Lil Duval. If you have time to kill, I’d suggest watching this.

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. The two Lloyds hook up again. This time for a record which will be found on (singer) Lloyd’s upcoming King Of Hearts album.

Off the first couple of listens, it doesn’t feel like this will catch on like “Any Girl,” but a quality record to have nonetheless.
