ENTERTAINMENT THE CIVIL WAY!

Speaking of Drake, at least for one night, Toronto was the epicenter of the Hip-Hop universe. Drake’s T-Dot homecoming yesterday was dubbed as the OVOFest – a concert that was weeks in the making and took only a few hours to become legendary. For a man who has been around the world and back since his rise to superstardom last year, it seems as if this show meant the most to him out of any performance. Back in front of his home crowd, the loyal fans were treated to several acts including Francis and The Lights, P. Reign, Bun B and Young Jeezy. And this was all before Drake was even spotted on stage.

Given close to two hours of stage time, the OVO frontman made sure he didn’t disappoint with more special guests than people in attendance could count. Judging from Niko’s tweet before hand, I sarcastically thought he was going to bring Barack out, thus changing the scope of music, entertainment and politics forever. Barack didn’t happen, but everyone else did.

Remember The Drought Is Over 7? Yep, it’s still coming and this happens to be the first offering. If it actually comes to fruition, this Drake/Weezy collab album could be something serious. They always tend to make good music together and this appears to be no different.

Look for the full version to drop next week on the Lime Light Exclusives 2 mixtape. Credit to YMHD.

This is about a week overdue, but good music doesn’t know the definition of time. Meet Aion Clarke. Perhaps you know him, then again you may not. Formerly known by the name Voyce Alexander, Aion was featured on Drake’s 2006′s debut mixtape, Room For Improvement. Go back in case a refresher course is needed.

Since then, he’s written for acts such as Day 26 and Usher and worked side-by-side with legendary producer Bryan Michael Cox. I’ve known the guy for a little over a year now and he was actually one of the first artists who ever took the time to grant me an interview. During our hour long convo, we spoke about the early days in Toronto when he, Melanie Fiona, Drake and Boi-1da were all getting their starts, his falling out and eventual reconcilation with Drizzy and how much of an influence B. Cox is to his work. Another topic we touched on and one he was more than thrilled about was the release of his first project entitled “The Leaks.”

As the President of Young Money, Mack Maine has the responsibility of leading one of  the hottest labels in the game. But the business side of his career hasn’t taken anything away from his skill as an artist… and he wants to make sure you remember that. Check out this freestyle over  Vado, Cam’ron & Kid Cudi’s “Ya Killin Me” beat.

Range links up with Ricky Rozay to shoot the visual for “Ghetto Dance.” With the “Flex,” the “Dougie” and now this, it’s way too much for me to keep up with. A simple two step will suffice for me. The Roc Nation R&B singer/songwriter, who has written for artists such as Jamie Foxx and T-Pain, is currently in the works of promoting his new mixtape with DJ Drama.

After taking a look at the video, you’ll have a chance to win $1,000. How, you ask? By entering yourself in the “Ghetto Dance” contest.

A day late, sure, but let’s get one thing clear: Freddie Gibbs is that dude.

Let’s get another thing clear: this tape is free. Twenty-one tracks of that raw, unfiltered gangster sh*t that only Freddie can bring.

Let’s get one last thing clear: The official Str8 Killa No Filla EP drops next Tuesday (August 3) and if you’ve ever downloaded one of his tapes and enjoyed them, spending $8 on the official release shouldn’t even require much thought.
