Pill has already established himself with three well respected tapes. Earlier this summer, Pink City’s own spoke with MTV about the success he had thus far and why he wasn’t in a rush to put release his debut album, The Medicine.

“I don’t want to rush it, because you know how a lot of people get signed and they drop an album ASAP, and nobody knows who they really are? I don’t want to fall victim to that,” he said. “[I'll] probably drop another two mixtapes and then be looking forward to the album. I don’t want to drop it on them. I want them to be like, ‘We need that Pill album,’ so I can give them The Medicine.

Iit appears the new school ATLien feels the time may be approaching to get the wheels rolling with the unveiling of his first single. J. Cole isn’t the only “freshman” looking forward to the day he sits at the top of the class as P-I-Double L looks to inspire those with the aptly titled “Blow Up.” Featuring labelmate Iyaz, Pill vents about what everyone desires (or should): to become successful in whatever path they chose in life. Pill is a musician, so having the world identify and appreciate his music is a fantasy of his. Everyone has to dream. While some are more realistic than others, that’s the first step in making them a reality.

In less than a month – September 14 to be exact – Trey Songz releases his fourth studio album in Passion, Pain & Pleasure. The lead single “Bottoms Up” featuring Nicki Minaj has been heating up for a few weeks.  Trey premiered the visual earlier today and the best way to describe is “it’s a lot going on.” Not in a bad way though, just not what was probably expected given the subject matter.

I still have yet to try Conjure though. That may have to change soon.

Nike SB is proud to announce the global launch of the Zoom Paul Rodriguez 4 on 8/21/2010. This year they brought Paul to New York to hit the streets and spend time in the studio with one of his idols, hip-hop legend NAS. The result is a 60-second commercial, directed by Nike SB’s own Jon Humphries, following Paul’s journey through iconic New York City skate spots, accompanied by music and a voiceover from Nas.

I happened to be watching MTV Jams when a commerical for a new program airing this fall called The World of Jenks. It interested me mainly because of the award winning creator – Andrew Jenks.

I was intrigued by the premsis of his new show. Every week Jenks would follow the links of a complete stranger totally immersing himself in their lives, good and bad. One of those strangers is Maino. Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t seen the clip of Brooklyn’s Bully making Jenks the latest victim in his hand of five-finger-greeting (slaps), but yeah, it gets that real. When asked why they decided to give the 24 year old filmmaker a show, could not deny his storytelling ability.

“Andrew Jenks is a gifted filmmaker who captures and uncovers unique slices of American life by fully immersing himself in the reality of each situation so we can live these moments through his eyes,” said Tony DiSanto, President of Programming for MTV. “This creator-driven reality project allows its star to shape each episode in front of and behind the camera bringing a new voice and storytelling style to the genre.”

“MTV has always represented the youth generation and I think this docu-series can capture real stories about young people from all walks of life: from living on the streets with a homeless person to living in a war zone with soldiers,” said Andrew Jenks.

We’ve all known for years MTV has pretty much abandoned the “M,” but it is nice to see they intend to incorporate quality programming into their fall line up. The series airs immediately following the MTV VMA’s on September 12.

“My brother P Reign knows/We f*ck with the same hoes/Plus he taught me how to spot an officer in plain clothes…” – Drake

I’m pretty sure P Reign is tired of hearing and reading that line, but it’s such a great icebreaker. In case you don’t already know, P hails from Toronto and has been recording his own music for awhile now. Two months ago he shot the video for “In My Hood.” Let Lola tell and not even an hour after arriving on set, the police shut the video down shoot down. Regardless, they got all the footage they needed as Reign recently let go off the visual.

The opening scene is a recreation of the scene from Belly when Sincere spoke to Shorty on the park bench. From there the Toronto native goes on to pay homage to his hood, Galloway, and also boast appearances from Drake and Louie Rankin.

Leave it to Tim Westwood to prove all laws of cyber limitations wrong. Here I was thinking YouTube videos could only hold up to 12-15 minutes worth of footage. The above clip is damn near an hour long fill – 48 minutes to be exact – with mostly Lil Wayne and Tim chopping it up. To start, the UK radio legend let go of some footage he had stashed away with Wayne shortly before he turned himself in earlier this year. I don’t know the man personally, but it seemed rather evident to me he was tired of talking about “going away” and just wanted to get it done. Either that or he was high. Probably both though.

Westwood also weaves in some video footage of a barrage of Wayne’s hits like “I’m Single,” “A Milli,” “I’m So Hood (remix),” “My Life” and “Roger That” along with an interview he had with Wayne awhile back in the UK following a concert.  The last seven minutes feature an in studio freestyle with across-the-pond talents Scorcher and Wretch 32.

While on the topic of Wayne, however, he’s 79 days away from leaving Rikers and posted his newest letter moments ago entitled “Just Another Day.”
