You’ve read the letters from inside the concrete jungle, but here’s audio proof Hip-Hop’s favorite extraterrestrial is doing just fine.
DJ Scoob Doo let loose of an exclusive clip of a recent conversation with Weezy. Even considering his recent troubles at Rikers, Wayne appeared to be in great spirits (see, he wasn’t lying) and is already plotting on a return home later this year. He didn’t seem to worried when he spoke about if the infraction would add time on to his sentence, but my guess is they may cut his phone time down or limit visits. You know, something like that. Then again, I’ve never worked in the correctional system, so take my hypothesis with a grain of salt.
The interesting thing about the clip is about an alleged “Steady Mobbin’” video.
At this point, it’s unclear what’s more irrelevant – Yung Berg or his chain which has been on the lamb for well over a year now? From Chicago, to Detroit, to Cali and to several other cities across this great country, this (fake) neck-wear has been on tour more than Berg himself.
Apparently, the latest proprietor of the Transformer chain is Lowkey Riez. Never heard of the guy? Me either. Like dude said, how he came up on the chain is his business. It makes me no difference to me either way, but that’s water under the bridge. My problem with the video stems from the fact he has to use the chain to promote himself. It’s like bragging about smashing the neighborhood jumpoff.
Is this supposed to propel your career? This is what people in the Hip-Hop world like to call a “publicity stunt.” Bottom line, if you’re an artist who takes pride in his or her work, that should be able to stand alone. Videos in this fashion are lightweight corny. I can’t speak for the majority of listeners, but stuff like this gives me no motivation to listen the music. But I did anyway. And let’s just say he’s not the next coming of T.I. or Andre 3000.

VIBE will be  highlighting a celebrity making an impact as the VIBE.com cover story every Tuesday. They have chosen Hov’s choice for our first cover subject: Roc Nation’s flagship rookie J. Cole. In the inaugural cover story, Roc Nation’s increasingly respected 24-year-old draft pick talks debut details, Drizzy, and ditching groupies.
What were Jay’s words when he first heard the single?
He liked it a lot, said the beat reminds him of a Biggie’s “Hypnotize.” I believe him. That’s why they call him Hov [laughs].When I first interviewed you last year, you said your conversations with him were limited. Has that relationship changed?
Now it’s more… I think his brain is in the same boat as mine. He’s really in executive mode like, ‘How can we take this kid to the next level. What do I need to be doing as Jay-Z to help this kid.’ I can see that all in his moves.

It was speculated a few weeks back that Diddy paid a visit to Lil Wayne earlier this month at New York’s Rikers Island. Diddy told MTV News he just wanted to check in on a friend who always came through in the clutch for him.
“Wayne is a trooper, Wayne is doing great. It was a personal visit, so I don’t want to get into the details of that. We’re just counting down the days of him getting out. He’s somebody that has been there for me over the years numerous times. I live in New York. It wouldn’t have been right if I didn’t go see him and check on his health and well-being. But the status of where that’s at, that’s his personal business.”
Diddy also said Wayne’s absence from the scene is a big loss.
“I think we gonna miss a certain energy that Wayne has,” Diddy said. “The beauty about it is, he’ll be back, and hopefully he’ll come back a better person. Whenever we get in trouble, we’re in the public spotlight. So hopefully there’s a lot of kids out there who could learn from any mistakes that we may have put ourselves in, even if we’re not guilty of the crime sometimes. We are human. People have to learn: ‘Make sure you know where you’re going, who you riding with, what the situation is.’ We’re targets. I’m just happy he doesn’t have to do a lot of time and that he’ll be out, and hopefully he’ll use the time wisely and use it in a positive way.”

It’s that time of the year again. Awards time. BET Awards to be completely clear. Yesterday, the network announced Queen Latifah was tapped to host the show’s tenth anniversary show on Sunday, June 27 at 8 p.m. While Diddy and his Dirty Money crew will take the stage and host the post-show. Who’s nominated? I’m glad you asked. Instead of going through the entire list of categories, below are a few of the evening’s bigger nominees. Jay-Z leads the way with five, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Trey Songz and Melanie Fiona with four and Young Money stars Drake and Nicki Minaj securing three and two respectively. Other marquee names include B.o.B., Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Fabolous.
