When your company has had the bad publicity Toyota has, something like this doesn’t seem like that bad of an idea. Keyword: seem. I’m no Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Barack Obama or Huey Newton for that matter, so this isn’t one of those “we gotta-gotta” type speeches. However, if Toyota thinks this is going to help them sell cars, they should have went with their second or third idea. I’m not exactly positive how this would make you want to purchase a mini-van, but to each their own.

In MTV’s Mixtape Daily on Monday, Dame Dash was asked would he bring the Diplomats back to Roc-A-Fella?

“Um, under the right circumstances,” Dash answered. “As long as everyone is happy, as long as the quality of living is never compromised, as long as everyone is on the same sheet of paper — of course. It’d be great. Anything is great under the right circumstances but a dream could become a nightmare when everyone doesn’t have the same agendas. That’s just a general statement.”

Dash said that with Jim and Cam reuniting — at least personally, so far — the duo have set a great example for the music industry. He suggested that that maybe he and Jay-Z should have followed a similar route.

“I’m more happy than anything that they’re friends — that they were able to salvage their friendship, if that’s the case,” Dame said. “I think they’re better than me for that: being smart enough and humble enough to apologize to each other and move forward. I really do hope that where I failed to be the right example, that they can be that. You always want the people ahead of you to do better than you anyway. For that, I gotta give them props for being men above anything.”

Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has officially parted ways with his former management company Mizay Entertainment and booking agency Hitt Afta Hitt Enterprises. Mizay Entertainment is helmed by Debra Antney, while promoter Johnnie Cabbell is the owner of Hitt After Hitt Enterprises. Both companies and their respective owners are named in several federal lawsuits, claiming they booked Gucci Mane in several cities throughout the country, without disclosing that the rapper was heading to jail.

Gucci missed a string of dates over the past year, resulting in lawsuits against Mizay and Hitt After Hitt for failing to return hundreds-of-thousands of dollars in advanced payments. Gucci has closed down his So Icey Entertainment imprint and is now the President and CEO of 1017 Brick Squad Records Inc.The artists on the new label are Wacka Flocka Flame, OJ Da Juiceman, Bricksquad (Wacka, OJ and Gucci) and Gucci Mane himself.

“The wait is over! The wait is over!” - Young Jeezy

And what a wait it was. Realistically speaking, no one really has the right to complain over a mixtape. It’s free. An album? Sure, because that is the main way an artist promotes himself to the masses. However, to say this tape has been long in the making is an understatement. Rumors started circulating around Trap or Die 2 even before The Recession dropped, but never happened.

Turns out Karla is on TV now almost as much as she’s on the internet. This time she brought company.

My big brother and hip hop producer Boi-1da stopped by MuchMusic for VideoFlow last week and talked all about the amazing beats he’s done for the homie Drake. I was honored to bring him out for his segment at the beginning of the show. Boi-1da says he and Drake have done so many songs together now that he’s lost count. They also have several unreleased tracks together.

Done so many songs together? Several unreleased tracks? Drake? Boi-1da? It probably won’t ever happen, but that sets the stage for a “Lost Tapes” type release in the future. No need for it now. Boi-1da also goes in depth about the making of Drake’s first single, “Over,” and how he got into producing in the first place. It’s definitely worth the watch from one of the fastest rising names in the industry.

The long awaited Thank Me Later hits shelves June 15.

J. Cole. Funk Flex. Hot 97. “Get your tape decks ready.”

While Usershare links have replaced the proverbial tape deck, the outcome is still the same. Roc Nation’s hope for the future stopped by the legendary studios to chop it up on a variety of topics.

But, of course, if you call yourself a MC and slide through Hot 97, offering bars for the entire Tri-State area is a rite of passage. And with Cole being Cole, you already know the end result. Cole World will be something for the history books. This is merely a preview.
