The countdown to Thank Me Later stands at a little under two months. The Toronto transplant stopped in Atlanta last night to give the ATLiens a glimpse at what they could expect come June 15 at the 2010 BMI Awards. It has been almost exactly a year since the last time Drizzy performed solo in the A and from what I hear, it was another impressive performance.

Karen finally caught up with a nigga. I was supposed to write this three months ago, but I’ve been so busy. Let me give you an example of how my day has been:

-I had to go to the studio on Thursday, so I got there around 5
-I get home around 5 in the morning
-Then I had to catch a 9 a.m. flight only to have a show in Georgia at 11 p.m. which ended at 1:30.
-So I  drive back to Atlanta. Get to the A at 3:30 to catch at 6 a.m. flight to Upstate N.Y.
-I then ride to Long Island and do a show there.

That’s the type of schedule it is right now. The type of chaos I’m pretty much going through, which, please don’t mistake me, I’m forever grateful for all of it. But it is somewhat overwhelming when you go from a nigga that was doing beats in his bedroom, to try and write songs and you kind of looking for things to do. It’s hectic but its all for the best and all of this work is going to lead to something that will pay off in the end.

A day late, but free music is free music. It’s even better when it derives from one of the game’s most promising young MC’s. Pink City’s own Pill, who is one of the funniest people on Twitter, gives yet another glimpse into his highly anticipated “Gangsta Grillz” with DJ Drama, 1140: The Overdose.

This time around P-I-Double L tackles Rihanna‘s “Rude Boy.” Given how he has tackles R&B/pop beats in the past, this shouldn’t be a disappointment. In related news, look for Pill’s video for “Ok Denn” to surface later this week.

Word is Trap or Die 2 is dropping some time this week. Only time will tell. In the meantime, take this sample to hold you down until the whole project drops. Seems Jeezy’s upgraded from “Trapper of the Year” to the “Greatest Trapper Alive.” Depending on how good ToD2 and TM 103 end up, it may not be much of an argument.

Cam’ron and Jim Jones working on repairing their friendship shouldn’t be a surprise by now. Miss Info broke the news last night, automatically conjuring memories of years past. During the early to mid 2000′s, there wasn’t a group who had more of a cult following than The Diplomats. G-Unit, possibly, but the more they became worldwide superstars, that organic and natural feeling of authenticity with their music seemed to disappear.

The crew that Cam built was different though.

Guru has passed away yesterday morning (April 19) after a long battle with cancer.

According to Solar, Guru suffered from the malicious illness for over a year and after numerous special treatments under the supervision of medical specialists failed, the legendary MC succumbed to the disease. Guru always tried to keep this harrowing diagnosis in private but in early 2010 he had to admit himself to hospital due to serious effects caused by the disease.

Since the onset of illness, Guru tried to live a “normal” life as an influential and outstanding musician, loving father, family man, and best friend. Doctors encouraged Guru to think positive that the cancer can be arrested and that a full recovery is possible but several special treatments including hard hitting chemotherapies failed.

While in hospital with terminal cancer, Guru wrote a letter, which was provided by Solar, to his fans addressing his illness, his shining music career, his family and loved ones.

“I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options. I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting,” read the official Guru statement.

Weezy isn’t the only YM member Chris Brown finds himself in the studio with. He and Tyga  have been collabing a lot lately, most notably this year’s “G-Shit” and “I’m So Raw.” Well, turns out where there’s smoke, fire isn’t far behind.

The two are working on a mixtape together called Fan Of A Fan, due out soon. Consider the accompanying songs previews into what the project will sound like.
