tyga-hit-em-up-cover

“Fu** Them Other Ni**s Cuz I’m Down For My Ni**s” opens up the new joint of the day “Hit Em Up”, brought to us by rapper Tyga aka T-Raw. This new rip is a pull from Tyga’s rapidly approaching album “Hotel California” set to release April 9th and features the seasoned gritty MC Jadakiss. An interesting twist of the melodic piano tune of 2Pac’s original ”Hit Em Up” with the west coast “rack city” infamous Tyga hi-hat hit, the track features lyrics from the deceased rapper, in which Tyga makes note that this is not a remix or remake– it’s a complete original. The sample from PAC drops at a point in the third verse of the song, infused with added verses from Tyga & Kiss that let rappers know not mess with the wrong one. Check the DJ Mustard produced track below, and hit the jump to watch Tyga’s statement with MTV news.

The interesting facet about Tupac’s catalog is that many of the songs which never landed on any of his “living” albums are just as popular as some of his biggest hits. The other day, “Made Niggaz” came on shuffle. It was one of those tracks Pac recorded sometime in 1996; the same year which would prove to be the last of his life and the year which would spawn some of the more mythical marathon studio sessions the culture of Hip-Hop has ever known.

2Pac and Rihanna Finally Get A Picture Together

After attending the Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg set at Coachella, which featured rapper 2Pac, everyones favorite bad girl Rihanna was able to head back stage for a quick flick with the legendary West Coast rapper. Okay, maybe not but its close enough. This image, just posted on Rihanna’s instagram, is a very interesting image. Photoshopped, of course, but leaves the mind to wander.

Pics: My Coachella 2012 Experience

What a crazy weekend it has been! I just returned home from Coachella 2012, which was packed with so many surprises. Throughout this weekend, I was fortunate enough to see Frank Ocean, who was socially awkward onstage and hopefully has a better stage presence next week. Childish Gambino, who I’ve become an instant fan of after watch him put on an amazing performance. The-Weeknd, sounded amazing and definitely had the crowd enjoying every moment., and last but not least, Dr. Dre set was incredible! Warren G, 50 Cent, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg coming out to grace the stage with Dre was the highlight of the Coachella festival.  To view the rest of my images, visit and follow my Instagram at KarenCivil.

No, I will not begin this with the obligatory you know what exclamation. It crossed my mind, but I figured it’d be on every other site. Not that it’s wrong, but still. Anywho, the braintrust at XXL decided to award their September cover to an artist who would have been 40 this year and left the world far too soon nearly 15 years ago. Tupac Shakur’s legacy still looms large (and loud). In said issue, Pac’s first manager Lelia Steinberg, The Outlawz and even his ex-wife open up about the guy we all view as an icon, but the man they saw as a friend and confidant.

Yes, for those not in the know, Pac was married for a brief moment during his roller coaster-like quarter century of a life. Shakur got hitched during the incarceration period of his story. To be quite honest, I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard an interview from her. Hell, I can’t even remember what ol’ girl looks like. And that’s if I’ve even seen her. That alone is enough for me to pick up the issue. Also, Pac’s biological father Billy Garland was interviewed and even had this to say about his son’s genuine heart.

2Pac – “Watch Ya Mouth”

I can’t remember where I read it – this was years ago – but I swear I recall reading some interview with Afeni Shakur and her acknowledging that hundreds of unreleased 2Pac songs were still in the vaults. The stories of his marathon recording sessions, especially during the year 1996, have become iconic urban legends in Hip Hop; they really help define his output as an artist.

Late last night, completely from left field, two new, unreleased tracks from Pac hit the Internet. Both showcase the aggressive side leaving no rapper he had problems with during the time unaddressed: Biggie, Bad Boy, Nas, Dr. Dre, De La Soul, Jeru and more. Even 15 years later, it’s still crazy (and eerie) as hell to hear Pac ride on his enemies.
