Black Cobain – “We Are Young”

Wale‘s right hand Black Cobain continues to win people over with his lyrical skills. He’s back in the mix with a brand new track entitled “We Are Young“. No word as to where this will appear or if it is just a random track. Either way, it’s pretty good.

The cool thing about artists – specifically Hip-Hop artists – is whenever their birthday comes around, they feel obligated to give you, the listener, a gift. In any other walk of life, it’s the other way around. For Black Cobain’s 26th birthday (April 29), the Board Of Administration executive hand delivers his newest project, Cheers. As the follow up to 2011′s Young, Gifted & Black, Cheers features a collection of parts helping create the greater good. Hello Chi-City, Mark Henry, Tone P, Beat Billionaire and more all assist Cobain on the production and composition side while Wale, Jose Guapo, Shy Glizzy and even J. Holiday handle the features.

2012 has already been a busy year for Cobain which saw him apart of Wale’s Ambition tour as well as spending time performing in Europe for what resulted in an incredibly dope opportunity.

The Royal Ballet will premiere a new show at the Royal Opera House this Friday. Entitled ‘Carbon Life’ it features a score composed by Mark Ronson and Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt. Devised by Wayne MacGregor, the RB’s resident choreographer since 2006, Boy George, US rapper Wale and Jonny Pierce of The Drums will all perform as part of an on-stage cast that also includes The Kills’ Alison Mosshart, alt-pop soloist Hero Fisher and American MC Black Cobain.

Support Black by downloading his birthday present to you. Just typing that sounds weird, but when good music is the result, it’s well worth the hard drive space.

The Board Administration seems to be determined to heat it up this year. The marketing and record label founded by Wale of Roc Nation-Maybach Music Group and Savvy Marketing Exec Le’Greg Harrison are busy dropping new gems.  Following the hip-hop/r&b soulstress Tiara Thomas’ debut, they’re gearing up for Black Cobain‘s third project Cheers Mixtape.  Here’s his latest visuals, freestyling over Bad Boy French Montana’s “Shot Caller.”  What’s the verdict?

“F*ck whoever judge ya and trick whoever love ya/But don’t expect a ring is you committed to the hustle…”

It’s good to see The Board of Administration still putting out music. Wale and Black Cobain take aim at Tyga’s gentlemen’s club anthem in a freebie Folarin threw out on Twitter just for the hell of it. Now with that said, allow me to say this. The behind the scenes to “Rack City” – the “official” version – looks dope, but there was a reason the OG version was shot the way it is.

That’s mainly because that’s exactly what happens when that song comes on in the strip club. It’s almost like the national anthem for strip clubs at the moment.
