Damian Marley, one of the many sons of legendary Reggae artist Bob Marley releases the visual to his Dancehall track “Set Up Shop”. Of course, featured throughout the island of Jamaica, Damian inspires young children to Set Up Shop…in lamens terms….accomplish your goals and dreams and take what is rightfully yours. Very inspirational. Check out “Set Up Shop” after the jump…

Nas and Damian are still hard at work promoting their Distant Relatives album. Last night, the two tore down the Hammersmith Apollo in what was described by one of HitHipHop.com‘s represenatives as “one of the best shows” he has ever seen. Helping celebrate the occasion were Semtex, Jay Electronica and, of course, DJ Green Lantern who happens to be the tour’s official DJ. Even Amy Winehouse was in attendance. “Sincere” and the man with one of the most famous last names in music (Marley) continue the push to the release of Distant Relatives on May 18. After several behind the scenes looks (not more than that Jeezy and Plies video though), we are finally afforded the luxury of seeing the first visual, “As We Enter,” in its entirety.

If you don’t know already, KarenCivil.com is a huge supporter of this project, so be on the lookout for more material as the release date approaches. Get it off iTunes, Best Buy, the mom and pops spot down the street, it really doesn’t matter. Just support (what I’m 95% sure will be) good music.

In related Nas talk, be sure to check out the latest “Catalog Catch Up” featuring Nas and stic.man’s (of dead prez) “Association” from 2008′s The N*gger Tape.

May 18 will be here quicker than you know it. This means a little over six weeks separate us from the release of Distant Relatives, the highly anticipated collaboration between Nas and Damian Marley. Yesterday night, Digiwaxx held a listening session for the project in their Harlem office hosted by Steph Luva. The place was filled to capacity. And by capacity, I mean there was hardly any air in the room.

Yet and still, people sacrificed a few hours of being uncomfortable to hear the project Escobar was touting as something his fans have never heard from him. For the most part he was right. This was Nas flexing his lyrical prowess over Marley’s finest instrumentations. It was hip-hop fused with reggae, obviously. But it’s something the both of them hope will show its worth far beyond record sales. During the listening session, the two would go on to answer questions thrown at them from various members of the audience. When asked about his legacy and longevity, a confident Nasir answered:

“Where do I see myself? I’m waiting for the rap game to catch up.”

Initially, Distant Relatives was only meant to be an EP. After vibing with each other so much in the studio, the idea of a full-length album was born. It took slightly over a year to complete the project. Nas spoke intently on songs creation for the album as well.
