The man of the hour, A$AP Rocky made a pit stop in Atlanta to chop it up with everyones favorite DJ. They talked about numerous topics such as MTV’s Hottest MC’s List, 2012 XXL’s Freshman, Favorite Artists and much more. It’s a three part interview, and at the end of the third, a few of the A$AP Mob including Rocky give us a few bars accapella. The other two videos can be viewed after the jump.

Fabolous was on Hot 97 a few days back and revealed to Angie Martinez that he will indeed be dropping another mixtape before his next album which will more than likely be out first quarter next year. He took it to Twitter and asked the fans would they rather have There Is No Competition 3 or a S.O.U.L Tape 2. I’m guessing the DJ Drama hosted There Is No Competition 3 won because yesterday Fabolous released the official artwork for the mixtape which he says may drop on Christmas.

Like I always say with initiatives of this ilk, let see how much acclaim and praise this receives. Yesterday, DJ Drama took time out of his schedule of promoting his new album and putting together 1,001 mixtapes to stop by and chop it up with the students of Atlanta’s Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School.

Dram preached to the youth the importance of staying in school. And even if the message does sound redundant, I’d think we can all agree telling kids a million times to stay in school is a lot better than telling them to drop out and hustle once. He also revealed to the teenagers how the Gangsta Grillz line came to be.

And since we’re talking about Mr. Thanksgiving, be sure to head over to iTunes to support his new album Third Power.

 Move to Trash

Regardless how successful a person is, there happens to be someone or some people who have always served as inspiration. And for DJ Drama, such a logic is no different. The mixtape’s game most recognizable co-signer at the moment chopped it up with the good people at VEVO to break down his top three choices for influences.

They range from those who came before him and those who Dram currently works very closely with. Here, take this one for example. The legendary DJ Clue.

“Clue is another one. You know, I was just really excited to be a mixtape DJ, [and] the popularity and the attraction to his status really pushed me to really pursue mixtapes as my calling. There’s a lot of ways of being a professional DJ, from parties to radio to mixtapes to producing and so forth, so i guess it was somebody like Clue who really inspired me to want to go in that direction.

A lot of the stuff I was doing was based upon building on top of what [someone] had already laid the groundwork for, so without a DJ Clue, there probably wouldn’t be a DJ Drama. He laid out that legacy of what could be accomplished from mixtapes.”

Who the other two are, you’ll just have to click here and find out for yourself. After you’re done doing that, head over to iTunes to scoop Drama’s new album, Third Power.

The climb towards the release of Chase N. Cashe’s The Heir Up There next month continues with its newest leak “S.S.D.” Blessed with production from Megaman, the track continues to solidify Chase is as serious with rap as he is behind the boards. 2011 has been a pretty damn good year for Surf Club as they’ve released more than a handful of their own projects, as well has handling production duties for some of the biggest and more respected releases this year. I guess that’s how you ensure you always have a job.

I’m not knocking the hustle either. What’s crazy is that when you realize they’re not even 25 yet.

Here is the official artwork for the upcoming mixtape from Spitta which will be hosted by DJ Drama. We’ve heard “Pininfarina” off of the mixtape and Spitta doesn’t let us down, so I’m expecting the entire tape to be the exact same way. We’ll find out August 23rd when it hits the internet.
