Video: A$AP Mob Freestyle With DJ Skee

Last week, we got the interview with DJ Skee and A$AP Rocky where they discussed numerous things such as his current single, upcoming album, Coachella 2012 and much more. Above is a freestyle segment the A$AP Mob participated in before their departure from DJ Skee.

In most cases, I wouldn’t pay attention to the release of a mixtape cover; especially if the track list wasn’t accompanied with it. That being said, when Game and DJ Skee let loose of this little tidbit from their next project, I was slightly intrigued.

One, it’s dope from the color scheme, to the actual title to the choice of the animal used. For those not in the know, the Grizzly Bear is the state animal of California. That last sentence was probably the geek in me coming out, but who cares, you learn something new everyday. And secondly, has Jayceon re-adopted the “The” back in his name? I hope so.

As of right now, no official release date has been made known, except it’ll just “sooner than expected.” Here’s to hoping the quality of this project follows in the same vein of The R.E.D. Album.

As far as I know, The R.E.D. Album is still dropping August 23. Before that though, Jayceon will be dropping his new mixtape entitled Candy Coronas alongside arguably the West’s most popular DJ, Skee. I said arguably, people; meaning there is room for debate. Anywho, as customary in today’s world, Game and Skee let loose of the trailer to add some anticipation for the masses.

In case you’re wondering, the tape drops next Tuesday. That’s August 1.

To conclude All Star Weekend, I stopped by Kress for the official afterparty. Partygoers packed all four floors with DJ Skee on the top floor and DJ Drama holding the third floor down. A riot damn near started once Fabolous hit the stage to perform as what seemed like every girl there attempted to rush the stage.

Other celebrities in attendance included Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Terrell Owens, Kenyon Martin, Ben Baller, Bangladesh and Red Cafe. Shout out to Exclusive Access for the pics and video.

Thank you to Vanessa Anderson (AM PR Group) & Brianne Pins (Cashmere Agency) for allowing me to attend a great event!

Turns out the tape wasn’t released at 4:20 due to technical difficulties with Game and Skee. All is well however as we now have the first disc to Purp & Patron hosted by Funkmaster Flex and the aforementioned Skee. Stayed tuned for the second disc shortly. The entire tape can be found below.

The funny thing about lists is that no matter how much criteria is set or how much debate ensues, it will always be wrong at the end of the day. For the past few years, MTV’s Hottest MC’s list has ranked as the most controversial and talked about in the game. This year was no exception. Lloyd Banks supporters championed that he should have made the cut over Ludacris while many raised an eye at Jay-Z securing the number 2 spot.

Knowing all this, the station took to receiving outside opinions. The highly respected DJ Skee believed Wayne deserved a higher ranking based off the success he has achieved from a Rikers Island cell. Complex Surf Club producers Hit Boy & Chase N. Cashe decided to go the grassroots route by stating Wiz Khalifa deserved a spot on the list based merely off the buzz he has created around himself and his Taylor Gang brand.

“For him to do what he did [last year] without making a hit and still be more relevant than a lot of artists, more relevant than most of the game,” Chase. N. Chase told MTV News of Khalifa. “As far as him starting from the Internet, his own brand poppin’, starting on a major, flopping, and coming back independently on his own to get the Taylor Gang poppin’, and to team up with Curren$y and give him relevance. The Kush & Orange Juice mixtape blossoming and taking over Twitter.”

Our own Karen Civil even petitioned for Nicki Minaj to be higher than the #6 ranking she received given the year she’s had thus far with guest appearances and the anticipation for her own solo album.

If it’s high quality footage coming from the West Coast, best believe DJ Skee and SkeeTV has a hand in it. For his latest project, we have the preview for Ice Cube’s upcoming album I Am The West. It’s basically a preview to three seperate videos:

1) Introducing OMG and Doughboy “She couldn’t Make It on her Own”

2) “Ya’ll Know How I am” feat. OMG, Doughboy, WC & Maylay

3) “Too West Coast” feat. WC & Maylay

The album hits shelves September 28.
