It’s Graduation season and every once in a while a Hip-Hop representative serves as the keynote speaker for the future leader’s of tomorrow. At the University of Southern California, the graduating Trojans were graced by the presence of Interscope head Jimmy Iovine who brought along a good friend in Dr. Dre. When Nike aligned itself with Michael Jordan, the brand (and Mike) was never the same again, catapulting themselves to charts unseen before or since. Nike became more than brand of shoes and athletic wear. Nike became synomous with its generation with every fashionable, up-to-date and “must-have.” The lesson in all this? So much for the unusually warm January temperatures in D.C. The high yesterday was 24 and snow is supposedly on the way Friday. Such bone chilling temperatures can make a person long for summer. King of the south T.I. (who was actually granted permission by most ATL rappers to call himself that) is talking money now and days and we mean big money. After dropping his 7th studio album “Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head”, the boss is no longer with his former 10 year record label, Atlantic Records. The rumor mill is spinning that T.I has been seen chatting it up with the likes of Dr.Dre over at Interscope/Aftermath, and some accusations of looking at Sony. Kendrick Lamar‘s debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, has received some of the best reviews seen in this years music realm. With the additional backing of mentor Dr. Dre, Lamar won’t be slowing down anytime soon. The two took the stage in London at the official Beats by Dre party to perform Swimming Pools, which had the whole venue shaking. Check out the performance after the jump.
