With Harlem’s A$AP Rocky creating a huge buzz for New York in hip-hop, it just may be time for R&B’s next big star to represent the borough as well. Nineteen year old Deon Young is gunning for the number one spot and has linked up with legendary music executive Sylvia Rhone to do exactly that. Recently signed to Epic Records who houses fellow budding R&B stars like Brandon Hines, Leah Labelle and more, Young has a mature voice that was formerly used to drop bars before he decided to try his hand at singing instead.

KarenCivil.com Interview: Ca$h Out Talks Strip Clubs, Trap Music, L.A Reid and Working with Future

John Gibson aka Ca$h Out is the latest southern emcee to emerge from the trap lifestyle and make the smooth transition into rap stardom. The 21-year-old Fulton County, GA native lived a life plagued by the street hustle, drugs, and run-ins with law enforcement. He had a baby daughter to take care of but was facing multiple years in prison. However, after catching a big break by avoiding hard time, the latest ATL product to fill the airwaves with his hit single, “Cashing Out,” turned to rapping, which was once just a hobby but now his newest –and only– lifestyle (other than hitting up strip clubs, claims the party-goer).

Interview: Brandon Hines -Soul Searching

It seems with any urban artist you meet nowadays, they all share one thing in common: their love for all-things Michael Jackson. From early Jackson 5 recordings of “Ill Be There” to “ABC” and then to solo pop superstardom, MJ was the man for all the little kids growing up aspiring to be in the music biz. Call it the “MJ rule” if you want. That rule applies to Brandon Hines, the authentic R&B/Soul singer who is fittingly from Motown. Growing up in Detroit and being introduced to the soulful sounds of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and Jodeci to name a few, the latest Epic Records signee Hines has been working on filling in the rhythms and blues void that’s been somewhat in the grey area lately with today’s pop-sounding, crossover influence. The smooth vocalist with the baritone is hoping to bring a sense of soul, emotion and feeling through the notes he belts out –something that will make females feel sexy listening to and have the fellas wanting to up their game.
