What Happened With Nicki Minaj at Summer Jam; Lil Kim and Funkmaster Flex Respond

This was the plan. For history to be made during the Nicki Minaj performance at this year’s Summer Jam festival but by the time the time of her performance drew near, the whole performance was a wrap. Here’s what happened.

Well, it all started with Peter Rosenberg who made a comment on-air during the Summer Jam pre-show (Hot 97). He said, “Shout out to all my real hip-hop heads and none of these Starship artists.” The actual video of that comment can be seen above. Then, Mr. YMCMB, Lil Wayne tweeted

This left America wondering what exactly had taken place. Well, Wayne took offense from Rosenberg’s statement and pulled the plug on the remainder of the Young Money performances that evening; by this time, Tyga had already performed.

Well, Nicki fans then began to weigh in on her cancelled performance and she took to twitter to defend the decision and show that Young Money is most definitely loyal to one another.

Now, fans weren’t the only ones voicing their opinions on the cancelled appearance. Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97 weighed in too during his appearance on the turntables.

Now, while no names were dropped, Flex does refer to albums not selling and commercial rappers. Was he siding with Rosenberg on this one? But if Flex is Flex, you can guarantee that he will clear up all the confusion on his show tonight.
Lil Kim also decided to share her opinion on the performance as it was scheduled. Apparently, Nicki was slated to bring out Foxy Brown and Azealia Banks; which would explain the “History” that Nicki was speaking on making in her tweet earlier in the day. The irony is, all three of these female rappers have beef with the Queen Bee. Kim tweeted “Hot damn ho here we go again. Monkey see monkey do. I heard the haters are joining forces against the Queen. LMAO!” She then told Nicki break a leg but followed up with this.

“My love for the female hip hop movement has always been genuine. All the females I’ve been bringing out recently I have love for. If u see anybody else doing it. Its not genuine. Know it’s only to copy and compete with me. For those of u who have been brainwashed by the fraud. Let’s open our eyes now people. The clone is not bringing ladies out for the luv.”

With all that being said, Nicki has been on twitter all day, clearing up the discrepancies from the entire issue. She is however being very classy about the entire situation and deciding to take the high road.

Recently Foxy Brown sat down with the NY Post to discuss many things such as her childhood, image, career, the mooning incident and much more. Foxy also opens up about her religious side and what it was like while she was imprisoned at Rikers Island. She has recently had all of her charges thrown out for her allegedly mooning someone. Now that Foxy has a clean slate, she is ready to get her feet back in hip hop and do some damage.

Foxy on her religious ways:
The Foxy character and Inga Marchand are two different people,” she continues. “My fiancé calls me Inga. No one around me calls me Foxy. I go to church every Sunday. I go to Bible study every Friday night. I’m saved.”

Foxy talks her childhood:
All my friends were in the park smoking weed and getting pregnant,” she says. “I didn’t want to be the young black girl having a baby, a baby’s father, being on welfare. That wasn’t going to be my story. I wanted to be a criminal-justice attorney

Foxy talks Prison:
Even in a Rikers jumpsuit, she was every inch the diva. “You’d have thought Obama was in the building when I walked in: The girls loved me,” she says. “The officers were jealous because I was getting hundreds of thousands of letters a week.” She even shot a photo spread for a hip-hop mag while in jail

A little controversy is never a bad thing in the music industry. When it begins to overpower what an artist does inside the booth, however, that’s when problems arise. For Foxy Brown, it has been like that for quite some time now and things do not seem to be changing anytime soon.

Foxy was a special invited guest on the Tom Joyner Morning Show Fantastic Voyage. On Friday’s show, Joyner announced on the nationally syndicated program that Brown was kicked off the cruise. Why? Well, even the details are not exactly clear. The story goes that Foxy phoned in to the show earlier this week when the call was apparently dropped.

However, Joyner was forgiving once he realized that Foxy Brown ended the call abruptly as the Ill Na Na did call back. “You know Foxy, after the interview, she called back and she was crying. And I said,‘See, she’s gonna be alright.’ Well, I was proven wrong,” shared Joyner.

Joyner said Foxy was sent back to her quarters and ordered to be held down until whatever situation she was embroiled in simmered down, but the hosts stated that their actions didn’t suffice. According to Joyner’s co-host Sybil, Brown was booted from the ship and subsequently escorted to a nearby airport.

It’s still confusing as to what actually happened, but the incident is yet another black eye for Foxy Brown as she has become more of a public circus act more than anything else in recent years.

UPDATE: Foxy Brown allegedly responded to the incident. This whole situation is either confusing or I’m not adding one and one together correctly.

Recently Foxy Brown sat down with Billboard and they talked about numerous topics and of course the highlight of the conversation was Nicki Minaj & Lil Kim. Billboard asked Foxy how she felt about the situation and Foxy replied with this comment about Nicki Minaj: “Nicki has always been cool with me. She and I have something online I did for her — it was a video shoot with Lil Wayne and Rick Ross, [when] she wasn’t signed yet.” After Foxy spoke on Nicki, she also gave her insight on how she feels about Lil Kim by saying “it’s like, O.K., Kim, you’ve had a problem with Foxy, you’ve had a problem with Nicki, you’ve had a problem with Faith [Evans], with Charli [Baltimore], with everybody. It’s like, enough already. I choose to stay out of it. Put out great music, and that’s that.” Aside from all of the talk about Nicki and Lil Kim, Foxy says she’s in the studio every night working on her upcoming album entitled ‘Black Roses’. The album will be double disc with one side hip hop and the other side dancehall rock, Foxy says. She is hoping for a August/September release date.

The saga that is Foxy Brown and new music continues to march forward. After initially planning to drop a battle record directed at Lil Kim on Christmas Eve, that plan eventually never came to life. However, yesterday it was reported Fox would be releasing a new single entitled “U Ain’t Ruff Enough” according to Bernadette Brennan - who proclaimed to be the rapper’s manager when she was arrested last July. All systems seemed go until earlier today when the woman herself (Brown) revealed on Twitter that info couldn’t be further from the truth.

In fact, Foxy’s real managers are Galvin and Anton Marchand – her actual brothers. Taking it a step further, any possible material leaked in the future could expect to be met with legal consequences.

“Everybody quoted in that fraudulent article will be hit wit a lawsuit immediately,” Foxy Brown tweeted. “What ‘label’ are they talking about?…If ANY of my lyrics are on ANY song they were STOLEN without my consent.”

“Lastly, I dont appreciate my fans being lied to. Nothing in that story was truth. Stealing a multi-plat artists lyrics w/o my consent…is not only an incredible lawsuit but a disrespect to my craft, my legacy and my fans,” Foxy Brown continued. “If MARY J or LAURYN HILL recorded a session in a studio while creating their album and decided to go with a hotter joint, who the f**k gives anyone in that studio the audacity to experiment wit a seasoned artists music?? And throw ur unknown artist on MY song without my consent, on some secret society s**t then w/o FOX hearing or approving anything, these bastards “Biggz I trusted u” had the f**kin’ nerve to put a fake press release out lying!”

So the story goes like this: Lil Kim is mad at the world right now. Words are flying and apparently something gets back to Foxy Brown which rubbed her the wrong way. Foxy decided to take it to the studio and told everyone who would listen that her diss record “Christmas Massacre” would be dropping on Christmas Eve. In addition to the track, she was also set to host a party in Brooklyn at Club Jelani.

Well, the record never appeared and Club Jelani was without a host for their party. For the approximate 124 people who care, she – she being Foxy that is – took to everyone’s favorite publicist (Twitter)  to vent her side of the story.

I hope everyone had a blessed & beautiful Christmas.. my favorite time of the year. Still grieving the loss of someone special & dear to me. I’d like to personally apologize for the confusion and venue changing of the beautiful “Christmas In Brooklyn” party. Although the confusion fell far beyond my control, my responsibility and concern is to my fans and family; my priority. As I always say… the Devil’s at his busiest when ur about to get busy. My baby sis Wanda Fox, FOX Boyz, Ferrari, GT Nick, Sha, Britney Fox, Team FOX and all my die hard FOX fans… from my heart, I luv yall. Pray for ur girl. Something bigger’s going on. But GOD got me covered in his blood.
