With so many places to be in LA this weekend, the House of Blues definitely had one of the better moments Friday night. Since signing with Maybach Music Group, many have wondered what Wale’s affiliation with Roc Nation was now, even after he cleared the air by confirming he was still managed by the label. He and J. Cole both headlined the show basically showcasing a Roc Nation band of brothers type show and environment.

Cole, who is coming off a highly successful European tour and the release of his “In The Morning” video, had the crowd in the palm of his hands pretty much the entire night. He ran through a string of hits and even shocked the crowd by bring Drake out on stage. The energy the entire night was amazing. One of the more memorable moments of the show, however, came when he, Wale and Melanie Fiona performed “Beautiful Bliss.” By the end, there was a J. Cole chant by the entire crowd. Cole’s reaction to their reaction was one of a humble surprise.

J. Cole stopped by the Key Club in Hollywood a few days ago and in the middle of his set paid homage to once of the greatest rappers of all times. In a recent interview Cole revealed that he looks up to Nas and the late Tupac for their lyrical prowess. “The more lyrical rappers. I gravitate toward the classic and more lyrical rappers,” he told Spinner.com. “Sometimes when I’m in the studio we spend an hour on YouTube watching old rap and freestyle. For a while there it was really lyrical and witty and was always personalized. I’m drawn toward storytellers like Nas and Tupac.”
