Lauryn Hill heats up the world of music this week with the release of her new record “Neurotic Society”, not to specifically say that the record is one of the hottest we heard, but the fact the Ms. Hill has actually put forth new music is the bigger surprise  Under her new 1 Million $ contract with Sony (said to help pay off the back taxes she owes to the IRS), Lauryn drops the track “Neurotic Society”; an eccentric and off cuff mix that puts forth a very meaningful message about society. Before Wyclef damn near full-fledged commando in is driveway, halfway greased up, on a bike (oh, I haven’t forgotten mainly because the image is burned into my memory now), ‘Clef biggest news centered around Lauryn Hill. Wyclef alleged he and Lauryn had an affair way back when. Furthermore, he claims L-Boogie even tricked him into believing her first child was his. Yep, some rather hellacious claims, but until now only one side of the story had been told. 

Last night, the in-depth interview for Oprah‘s “Next Chapter” series kicked off with non other than the beautiful and outspoken Rihanna. Well before Oprah reached out to Rihanna, she first reached out to the legendary Lauryn Hill but for whatever reason, she was turned down. Does it surprise anyone that Lauryn Hill turned down Oprah? Is this the first time Oprah has been turned down? Interesting questions to say the least.

Unfortunately, according to TMZ female singer-songwriter, rapper, Lauryn Hill just pled guilty to a major federal crime. Hill admitted she intentionally failed to file several tax returns in the past decade, and now the former Fugees singer faces up to 3 years in prison.

Yesterday, HOT97 held their 2012 Summer Jam in East Rutherford, NJ. Upon the many guests and surprises that were in store, a rumor had spread that headliner Nicki Minaj was to bring out both Azealia Banks and Ms. Lauryn Hill. It turns out that there was only some truth to that rumor, as Lauryn Hill has released a statement to set the record straight and also give her insight on todays music.

No disrespect to Nicki, but I need to clear up an inaccuracy. I was not scheduled to be a special guest on her set at Summer Jam, I was invited by Nas to perform with him. I don’t have details on exactly what transpired between the station and the artists, but I do support artists standing by their beliefs, and walking with integrity. We have to find a better way to commercially exploit music, while giving artists their proper respect. This cannot be done while taking their contributions for granted, or trying to control the scope of their growth and power through threats and fear tactics. We can do better than this, there is a better way, or else ‘we’ (the proverbial we) find ourselves in danger of being hypocrites!!!

After 15 years of dating and 6 children, Lauryn Hill finally got the chance to see Rohan Marley propose…TO ANOTHER WOMAN! Marley met Brazilian supermodel Isabeli Fontana in October 2011 and has already proposed to her. He even told her that they “must return to their origins so that the marriage will last forever.” Forever? Forever Ever? FOREVER EVER? So, you can be with a woman for 15 years, father 6 of her children and then leave and decide you are ready to marry another woman in less than a year? There must be some sort of conspiracy. If only Lauryn were still making music so we could hear her opinion on the upcoming wedding. Who knows, maybe this will inspire some new music…

The people in London got something very special last night as the legendary Lauryn Hill performed all of her classic tracks live in the Indigo o2 Arena. She put on a non-stop show for 90 minutes and above you can view her perform “Ready Or Not” and “Lost Ones“. Seeing the great Lauryn Hill perform just makes me realize how incredible of an artist she is and how bad she needs to get back relevant in 2012. More footage after the jump.

In an adaptation and reinvention of Janet Jackson’s “Pleasure Principle,” Teyana Taylor drops “D.U.I.” Featuring hip hop’s heavyweights Fabolous and JadaKiss.  It’s the perfect slow blend to entice fans for her March 12th EP “The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor”.  Interesting title when you take into account Lauryn Hill‘s “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”.  Will it be a tribute or the main sense of inspiration?  Only time will tell.  Listen below and let us know if you’re feeling the Janet-influenced track.
